CUMBERLAND COUNCIL (C2051 ORTON ROAD AND C1021 BETWEEN GREAT ORTON AND BALDWINHOLME) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF ALL TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable carriageway resurfacing works to be carried out (“the Works”), Cumberland Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit all traffic (i.e. vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists), from proceeding along the following sections of road:
- C2051 Orton Road, from a point approx. 370m east of its junction with the U1130, extending in an overall easterly direction for approx. 310m.
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of the C2051, A689, Moorhouse, Roundabout, B5307, Moorhouse, Thurstonfield and the C1021 Great Orton.
- C1021, between Great Orton and Baldwinholme, from a point approx.620m north west of its junction with the U1131, Baldwinholme extending in a north westerly over the crossroads junction with the C2051, for a total distance of approx. 390m.
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of the C1021, A595, Newby West Roundabout, A689 Moorhouse, Roundabout, B5307, Moorhouse, Thurstonfield and the C1021 Great Orton.

The Order will come into operation on 27 July 2026 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restriction will only be required for 19 days, and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
