ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

The East Sussex (Public Footpath Crowborough 15a)

(Temporary Footpath Closure) Order 2022

To protect public safety during a housing development, the Secretary of State has extended the above East Sussex County Council’s Order made on 1 July 2022 under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following footpath:

Temporary Footpath Closure

The whole of Public Footpath Crowborough 15a will be closed to all users between TQ 5281 2919 and TQ 5270 2869. Unfortunately, there is no alternative route.

The closure will be in force for 12 months from 14 July 2026, or until the works are completed, whichever is the earlier, which after this period will require an extension from the Secretary of State, should the footpath still be unavailable to use.

The East Sussex (Public Bridleway Alfriston 12a, Alfriston 12b, Alfriston 32b)

(Temporary Bridleway Closure) Order 2026

To protect public safety during surface and drainage improvements, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following bridleways:

Temporary Bridleway Closure

The whole of Public Bridleway Alfriston 12a will be closed to all users between TQ 5168 0298 and TQ 5154 0295 for a distance of 140 metres.

The whole of Public Bridleway Alfriston 12b will be closed to all users between TQ 5154 0295 and TQ 5105 0345 for a distance of 725 metres.

The whole of Public Bridleway Alfriston 32b will be closed to all users between TQ 5152 0310 and TQ 5154 0295 for a distance of 155 metres.

An alternative route will be available along The Broadway, and bridleways Alfriston 33, Alfriston 32a, Alfriston 14b and Alfriston 14c and vice versa.

The closure will be in force for 6 months from 13 July 2026, or until the works are completed, whichever is the earlier, which after this period will require an extension from the Secretary of State, should the bridleways still be unavailable to use.

To allow Openreach to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Pound Lane – from the junction with U7406 Shepherds Hill to the junction with B2102 Framfield Road.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via U7506 Barn Lane, Streele Lane – U7403 Etchingwood Lane – U7864 Nan Tucks Lane – U7406 Shepherds Hill and vice versa. The Order commences 10 July 2026 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 10 and 13 July 2026 depending upon the weather conditions.

Common Lane – from the junction with C326 Shortgate Lane to the junction with B2124 Lewes Road.

To allow South East Water to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Burnt Oak Road – from the junction with C402 Hurstwood Road to the junction with U7861 Tibbs Mill Lane.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via C402 Chillies Lane – A26 Uckfield Road, Beacon Road – C254 Sheep Plain – C483 Alice Bright Lane, Burnt Oak Road and vice versa.

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

To allow South East Water to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Swansbrook Lane – from the junction with C330 Gun Hill to the junction with A267 Eastbourne Road.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via U7674 Swansbrook Lane – A267 Eastbourne Road, Horam Road – C114 Chiddingly Road – C330 Pick Hill, Gun Hill and vice versa.

The Order commences 24 July 2026 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 24 and 28 July 2026 depending upon the weather conditions.

To allow Openreach to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via U7118 Five Ash Down – A26 Uckfield Road, Beacon Road, Eridge Road – C70 Bunny Lane – A267 Frant Road, Frant Green Road, Mayfield Road, Tunbridge Wells Road, Mayfield Road, Tunbridge Wells Road, Argos Hill, Tunbridge Wells Road, Mayfield bypass, Wellbrook, Wellbrook Hill, Mayfield Road – A272 Summerhill, Main Road, Curtains Hill, The Toll, Pound Green, High Street, Station Road, Lephams Bridge Road and vice versa.

The Order commences 26 July 2026 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 26 July 2026 depending upon the weather conditions.
