Definitive Map Modification Order 2026
The above order made on 1 July 2026, if confirmed as made, will modify the Definitive Map and Statement for Chichester by the addition of:
A restricted byway commencing on the B2141 (grid reference 483187, 114254) in Chilgrove in the parish of West Dean and proceeding generally west, then west-north-west, for a distance of approximately 206M before intersecting with bridleway 479 (grid reference 482987, 114301) with an approximate width varying between 3.4M and 6.5 M.
A copy of the order and the order plan may be seen free of charge, by prior appointment, at the office of the Legal Services, County Hall, Chichester, PO19 1RQ. A copy of the order and order plan may be purchased for £8.00 from Legal Services. The order and order plan may also be seen free of charge, during opening hours, at the offices of Chichester District Council and West Dean Parish Council.
Any representation or objection relating to the order must be sent in writing to the Executive Director of Law, Assurance and Insight, County Hall, Chichester, West Sussex, PO19 1RQ or legal.services@westsussex.gov.uk (quote ref: CC803.16533) not later than 3rd September 2026. Applicants are requested to state the grounds on which it is made. Any representations or objections to the order will be kept on a file that is open to the public.
If no representations or objections are duly made to the order, and if any so made are withdrawn, the WSCC, instead of submitting the order to the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, may itself confirm the order. If the order is submitted to the Secretary of State, any representations or objections which have been duly made and not withdrawn will be sent with it. (Objections will be held on a public file and while personal details will be omitted on request, they will become publicly available if and when the order is sent to the Secretary of State).
