What is happening?

THE CITY OF EDINBURGH COUNCIL

(BANKHEAD AVENUE) (TEMPORARY ROAD RESTRICTION AND TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2026 - TEMP/26/110

The Council has made an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be that for a temporary period, to facilitate installation of new cycleways, no person shall: (a) walk or cause or permit any person to walk on any part of the footway on Bankhead Ave (east side), from the extended north kerbline of Bankhead Medway, northwards and then north-eastwards to No.30 Bankhead Ave; (b) drive or cause or permit to be driven any vehicle on any part of the road specified in Schedule 1; & (c) except with the permission of a Parking Attendant, cause or permit any vehicle to wait, or load onto or unload from any vehicle on any part of the road specified in Schedule 2. Existing parking restrictions will be suspended on the affected sections of road described in Schedule 2. The alternative route for through pedestrian traffic in relation to the footway closure of Bankhead Ave will be by way of Bankhead Ave, west side. Pedestrian access will be maintained where practical. The alternative route for through vehicular traffic in relation to the road closure of bankhead ave is:

(i) Bankhead Ave, Bankhead Dr, Bankhead Bdwy & Bankhead Medway;

(ii) Bankhead Ave, Bankhead Way Nth, Bankhead Bdwy & Bankhead Dr.

The Order shall have effect from 13/07/26 to 30/11/26.

Schedule 1 Road Closure From 28/09/26 to 20/10/26 on: Bankhead Ave, from 9m east of the extended east kerbline of Bankhead Ave (south leg), eastwards for 72m.

Schedule 2 Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Unloading From 01/09/26 to 30/11/26 on: Bankhead Ave, both sides, in its entirety.
