What is happening?
WESTMORLAND AND FURNESS COUNCIL (U5036 BROUGHTON MILLS) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF ALL TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable utility works to be carried out (“the Works”), Westmorland and Furness Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit all traffic (i.e. vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists), from proceeding along that section of the U5036 Broughton Mills, from a point 280 metres south of its junction with the C5008, extending in a north easterly direction for approx. 325 metres.
A suitable alternative route for all traffic will be signed and available via the U5037 and the unrestricted section of the U5036.

The Order will come into operation on 30th July 2026 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restriction will only be required for 3 days and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
