What is happening?

SWINDON BOROUGH COUNCIL

SPEED LIMIT TRAFFIC ORDERS

Notice is GIVEN that Swindon Borough Council made the following Orders under the provisions of The Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which is as follow:

Revoke the national and 40mph speed limit on Draycott Close to be replaced with 40mph and 30mph speed limit.

Swindon Borough Council (Various Roads, Swindon) (Speed Limits) Consolidation Order 2022 (Variation No. 4) 2025 – Southern Connector Road, Eastern Villages

Introduce a 40mph speed limit along Pack Hill, The Marsh, Palus Drive (Southern Connector Road) and Church Road.

Also introduction of a 30mph speed limit on the Palus Drive (Southern Connector Road) from a point 1088 metres north of the junction with Pack Hill to the boundary with Lotmead Farm.

Swindon Borough Council (Various Roads, Swindon) (Speed Limits) Consolidation Order 2022 (Variation No. 7) 2025 – A4259 Marlborough Road, Swindon

Revoke the 50mph and introduce a 40mph speed limit on the A4259 Marlborough Road (both directions) southeast of BP Petrol Station for a distance of 89 metres in a southeasterly direction.

Swindon Borough Council (Various Roads, Swindon) (Speed Limits) Consolidation Order 2022 (Variation No. 4) 2026 – A346 Marlborough Road and The Ridgeway

Introduce a 40mph speed limit on the A346 Marlborough Road from a point 120 metres south of the junction with The Ridgeway for a distance of 100 metres in a northerly direction.

The Orders will be operative as of 13 July 2026. A copy of the documents for the Orders may be inspected online at www.swindon.gov.uk/trafficregulationorders

If you wish to question the validity of the Orders, or of any provision contained therein on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 or on the grounds that any requirements of that Act or of any instrument made thereunder has not been complied with in relation to the Orders, you may, within 6 weeks from 8 July 2026 apply to the High Court for this purpose.
