What is happening?

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984-SECTIONS 14(1)(a) AND (7)

THE A14 TRUNK ROAD (KETTERING TO KELMARSH, WEST AND NORTH NORTHAMPTONSHIRE)

(TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited (Company No. 9346363) intends to make an Order on the A14 Trunk Road, between Kettering and Kelmarsh in West and North Northamptonshire, to enable drainage works to be carried out.

The effect of the Order, will be to, at different times, –

(1)  impose a speed restriction of 50 miles per hour on –

(a)  the westbound carriageway of the A14 between points 450 metres southeast and 300 metres northwest of the tip of the nosing at its junction with the slip road leading from the roundabout junction with the A43 and Northampton Road (Broughton Interchange), at Kettering; and

(b)  the eastbound carriageway of the A14 between points 300 metres northwest and 500 metres southeast of the tip of the nosing at its junction with the slip road leading from the roundabout junction with the B669, Kettering Road and Allotment Lane (Rothwell Interchange), at Rothwell;

(2)  impose a speed restriction of 40 miles per hour on –

(a)  the westbound carriageway of the A14 from a point 300 metres northwest of the tip of the nosing at its junction with the slip road leading from Broughton Interchange, to a point 200 metres southeast of the tip of the nosing at its junction with the link road leading to the Woodlands Hospital access/egress, near Glendon; and

(b)  the eastbound carriageway of the A14 from a point 500 metres southeast of the tip of the nosing at its junction with the slip road leading from Rothwell Interchange, to a point 50 metres northwest of the tip of the nosing at its junction with the link road leading to Rothwell Grange Farm, near Glendon;

(3)  close –

(a)  the westbound carriageway of the A14 from its junction with the exit slip road leading to Broughton Interchange, to its junction with the entry slip road leading from the roundabout junction with Orton Road and Lamport Road, at Rothwell;

(b)  the eastbound carriageway of the A14 from its junction with the link road leading to the A508, at Kelmarsh, to its junction with the entry slip road leading to Broughton Interchange;

(c)  any slip road or link road leading to or from the lengths of the A14 described in (3)(a) and (b) above.

(d)  any layby adjacent to the westbound or eastbound carriageways of the A14 between the centrepoint of Broughton Interchange and the centreline of the A508 overbridge, at Kelmarsh.

The work is expected to start on Monday 27 July 2026 and continue for approximately eleven weeks. The carriageway and slip/link road closures will be in operation between 20:00 hours and 06:00 hours. The speed restrictions will be in operation from 20:00 hours on Monday 27 July 2026 and the layby closures from 13:00 hours on Monday 27 July 2026 and both will be in force for twenty-four hours per day, for the duration of the works. The Order will come into force on 24 July 2026.

Vehicles being used for police, fire and rescue authority or ambulance purposes will be exempt from the speed restrictions and closures. Vehicles being used for special forces purposes will be exempt from the speed restrictions, and vehicles being used in connection with the works or for winter maintenance purposes will be exempt from the closures.

THE A45 TRUNK ROAD (COLLINGTREE TO THRAPSTON, NORTHAMPTONSHIRE)

(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC IN LAYBYS) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited (Company No. 9346363) intends to make an order on the A45 Trunk Road, between Collingtree and Thrapston, in Northamptonshire, to enable cyclical maintenance works to be carried out.

The effect of the Order will be to close, at different times, any layby adjacent to the A45 between the roundabout junction with Saxon Avenue, the A508 Northampton Road and the M1 Junction 15 slips roads, near Collingtree, and the roundabout junction with the A14 and the A605, at Thrapston.

The closures will be carried out between 13:00 hours and 06:00 hours and are expected to start on Thursday 30 July 2026 and continue for approximately seven weeks. The Order will come into force on 27 July 2026. Vehicles being used for police, fire and rescue authority or ambulance purposes and vehicles being used in connection with the works will be exempt from the closures.
