What is happening?

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF FOOTPATH

THE NOTTINGHAMSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
(HOVERINGHAM FOOTPATH NO.1)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION) CONTINUATION NO.2 ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Secretary of State Transport in pursuance of the powers conferred by Sections 14 and 15 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 approves of The Nottinghamshire County Council (Hoveringham Footpath No.2) (Temporary Prohibition) Notice 2026 (which came into force on 15th January 2026 and was continued in force by a Continuation Order until 14th July 2026 inclusive) being extended and continuing in force until 14th July 2027 or until completion of the relevant works, whichever is the sooner.

The Order has the following effect:-
No person shall: -
(a) proceed on foot, in the following length of Footpath at Hoveringham in the
District of Newark and Sherwood: -
Hoveringham Footpath No.1 at the footbridge and joining point with Thurgarton Bridleway No.10

AND NOTICE IS HEREBY FURTHER GIVEN that during the period of restriction the alternative route available for pedestrians will be as follows:-
Thurgarton Bridleway No.10 and vice versa.

If the works are not completed within the above period the Order may be extended for a longer period with the further approval of the Secretary of State for Transport. 

The prohibition is required to protect public safety following damage to the footbridge, and to enable repairs to be carried out.
