What is happening?

READING BOROUGH COUNCIL

(ELGAR ROAD SOUTH/HOME FARM CLOSE)

(TEMPORARY ROAD RESTRICTIONS) ORDER 2026

Reading Borough Council has made an Order in accordance with section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be to introduce the following restrictions:

  • Suspension of any and all single yellow line restrictions, double yellow line restrictions and marked parking bays in the lengths of road specified in the Schedule below.

  • Introduction of a no stopping, waiting, loading/unloading at any time restriction in the lengths of road specified in the lengths of road specified in the Schedule below.

The Order will come into force from 10 July - 31 October 2026. The provisions of the Order shall only apply on the above dates when indicated on site by the presence of appropriate traffic signs in accordance with the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016. Nothing in the Order will apply to vehicles used by Thames Water, their contractors or subcontractors.

Should the works take longer than expected the restriction will remain in force for up to 18 months or until the completion of the works, whichever is earlier. The Order is necessary to facilitate the excavation and installation of replacement water mains.

(FATHERSON ROAD) (TEMPORARY ROAD RESTRICTIONS) ORDER 2026

Reading Borough Council has made an Order in accordance with section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be to introduce the following temporary restrictions on Fatherson Road:

  • Suspend the double yellow line restrictions as follows:

    • from the junction with London Road to the parking bay at the side of 99 London Road; and

    • from the junction with London Road to a point opposite 24 Fatherson Road.

  • Suspend the length of the parking bay from 99 - 99A London Road to the boundary of 24 Fatherson Road.

  • Impose a no stopping, waiting or loading/unloading at any time restriction as follows:

    • from the junction with London Road to the boundary of 24 Fatherson Road; and

    • from the junction with London Road to a point opposite 24 Fatherson Road.

The Order will come into force from 15 - 21 July 2026. Nothing in the Order will apply to vehicles used by Thames Water or their contractors. Should the works take longer than expected the restriction will remain in force for up to 18 months or until the completion of the works, whichever is earlier. The Order is necessary to facilitate new water connection works.

(KINGS ROAD, READING) (TEMPORARY ROAD RESTRICTIONS) ORDER 2026

Reading Borough Council intend to make an Order in accordance with section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be to temporarily suspend the parking bays directly outside Kennet House, 80 Kings Road, Reading, from the centre point of Crown Bridge to a point approx. 30m east of that point. If made, the Order will come into force on 20 July 2026. Should the works take longer than expected the restriction will remain in force for up to 18 months or until the completion of the works, whichever is earlier. The Order is necessary to facilitate crane works during fire safety inspections.

(LYNMOUTH ROAD) (TEMPORARY ROAD RESTRICTION) ORDER 2026

Reading Borough Council intend to make an Order in accordance with section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be to temporarily suspend the parking bay outside 2 Lynmouth Road and impose a no stopping, waiting, loading or unloading at any time restriction within that bay. If made, the Order will come into force from 18–19 July 2026. Should the works take longer than expected the restriction will remain in force for up to 18 months or until the completion of the works, whichever is earlier. The Order is necessary for the excavation and installation of new ducting for electric power.

(GREAT KNOLLYS STREET) (TEMPORARY ROAD RESTRICTIONS) ORDER 2026

Reading Borough Council intend to make an Order in accordance with section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be to temporarily suspend the parking bays outside numbers 92 - 98 Great Knollys Street and impose a no stopping, waiting or loading/unloading at any time restriction within those bays. If made, the Order will come into force 20–22 July 2026. Should the works take longer than expected the restriction will remain in force for up to 18 months or until the completion of the works, whichever is earlier. Nothing in the Order will apply to vehicles used by Thames Water or their contractors. The Order is necessary for repairs to a clean water leak.
