UNDER SECTION 14/1 OF THE ROAD TRAFFIC

REGULATION ACT 1984

WEST BERKSHIRE DISTRICT COUNCIL (THE COUNCIL)

INTENDS TO MAKE ORDERS AS FOLLOWING

(FOOTPATH FROM HUSCARLE WAY TO

SIMONS CLOSE, TILEHURST)

(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF PEDESTRIANS,

CYCLISTS AND EQUESTRIANS) ORDER 2026

West Berkshire District Council has made an Order in accordance with Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which will be to prohibit any use of the following footpath, namely Footpath from Huscarle Way to Simons Close, Tilehurst between its junction with Huscarle Way and its junction with Simons Close.

The alternative route for pedestrians, cyclists and equestrians effected by the order is via Huscarle Way, Menpes Road, Footpath from Simons Close to Menpes Road, Simons Close and vice versa.

The purpose of this Order is to enable works to take place on or near the footpath, namely for Openreach to install 4m of duct.

The proposed Order will come into effect on 13th July 2026 it is envisaged that the closure will be in place between 13th and 15th July 2026. The Order shall remain in force for a period of six months or until the works are complete, whichever is the soonest.

POLLARDS WAY, THE CHASE AND

MILL LANE, HOLYBROOK

(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF DRIVING, TURNING

PROHIBITION, NO WAITING AND SUSPENSION OF

BUS GATE) ORDER 2026

West Berkshire District Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make an order in accordance with Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding Southbound over Mill Lane between its junction with the A4 Bath Road and Carters Rise and to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding in any direction over The Chase and Pollards Way between their junctions with Calbourne Drive and Ledbury Drive

To facilitate these closures and to allow access the following restrictions will also apply as necessary, no right turn or left turn into Mill Lane at the A4 Bath Road junction. The buses only restriction between Pollards way and The Chase will be suspended for the duration of the closures and the bus gate itself will be temporarily filled.

No waiting will be allowed on the roads to be closed or their diversion routes for the duration of any closure.

The purpose of this Order is to enable works to take place on or near the highway, namely for Clancy, to enable Gas mains replacement on behalf of Southern Gas Networks and any additional collaborative utility works.

The proposed Order will come into effect on 27th July 2026. It is envisaged that the closure will be in place between 27th July 2026 and 21st August 2026.

(A4 BATH ROAD, PARISH OF HOLYBROOK)

(TEMPORARY 20MPH SPEED RESTRICTION)

ORDER 2026

West Berkshire District Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make an order in accordance with Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle from exceeding 20mph in any direction over A4 Bath Road in the Parish of Holybrook, for a distance of 100 metres on either side of its junction with Mill Lane

The purpose of this Order is to enable works to take place on or near the highway, namely for The Clancy Group to carry out Gas mains replacement works on behalf of SGN.

The proposed Order will come into effect on 27th July 2026. It is envisaged that the restrictions will be in place between 27th July 2026 - 21st August 2026.

(FIR TREE LANE, TOWN OF NEWBURY)

(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) ORDER 2026

West Berkshire District Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make an order in accordance with Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding in any direction over Fir Tree Lane in Newbury at its junction with A4 London Road.

The alternative route for all vehicles affected by the Order is via Turnpike Road, Turnpike Road, A4 London Road/Newbury Business Park Roundabout, A4 Benham Hill, A4 London Road and vice versa.

The purpose of this Order is to enable works to take place on or near the highway, namely for OCU Services to carry out electrical works for a new connection for the West Berkshire Hospital on behalf of SSE.

The proposed Order will come into effect on 17th August 2026. It is envisaged that the closure will be in place between 17th and 27th August 2026.

Unless stated otherwise the above orders shall remain in force for a period of eighteen months, or until the works are complete, whichever is the soonest, they will not take effect until approved traffic signs have been erected.
