HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL:

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF MARSHALSWICK LANE, ST ALBANS) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Marshalswick Lane, St Albans from its junction with St Albans City Public Footpath No.074 north westwards for a distance of approximately 87m (“the Road”).

An alternative route will be via Marshalswick Lane, Sandpit Lane, B651 Sandridge Road and Marshalswick Lane.

The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order will come into effect from 27 July 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 3 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF CAMBRIDGE ROAD, ST ALBANS) ORDER No.2 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Cambridge Road, St Albans from its junction with Ashley Road south westwards and north westwards for a distance of approximately 15m (“the Road”).

An alternative route will be via Ashley Road, Camp Road, Ely Road and Cambridge Road  or via Ashley Road, Hedley Road, Sutton Road and Cambridge Road.

The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order will come into effect from 29 July 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 3 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING AND WAITING RESTRICTIONS ON SMUG OAK LANE, BRICKET WOOD) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Smug Oak Lane, Bricket Wood from its junction with A5183 Radlett Road south westwards, north westwards, south westwards and north westwards to its junction with Station Road, a distance of approximately 1955m (“the Road”), except for access.

An alternative route will be via A5183 (Radlett Road/Frogmore/Park Street), Park Street Lane and Station Road.

ADDITIONALLY all vehicles are prohibited from waiting at any time on both sides of this length of road, whilst works are in progress.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order will come into effect from 27 July 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 5 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF FISHPOOL STREET, ST ALBANS) ORDER NO.2 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Fishpool Street, St Albans from a point in line with the north western boundary of No.112 Fishpool Street south eastwards for a distance of approximately 50m (“the Road”).

An alternative route will be via Fishpool Street, Branch Road, A5183 (Folly Lane/Verulam Road), Lower Dagnell Street, Spicer Street, Romeland Hill and Fishpool Street or via Fishpool Street, Welclose Street, Lower Dagnell Street, A5183 (Verulam Road/Folly Lane), Branch Road and Fishpool Street.

The Order is needed because water connection works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order will come into effect from 27 July 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 5 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF TUFFNELLS WAY, HARPENDEN) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Tuffnells Way, Harpenden from a point 50m north east of its junction with Ridgewood Drive south eastwards and north eastwards for a distance of approximately 60m (“the Road”).

An alternative route will be via Tuffnells Way, Ridgewood Drive, Luton Road, A1081 Luton Road, Farm Avenue and Tuffnells Way.

The Order is needed because electrical connection works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order will come into effect from 27 July 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 7 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY 40MPH SPEED RESTRICTIONS ON ALDENHAM ROAD, LETCHMORE HEATH AND BUTTERFLY LANE, ELSTREE) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from being driven at a speed exceeding 40mph on the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”), when signs are in place:-

1. that length of Aldenham Road, Letchmore Heath from a point 345m north west of its junction with Butterfly Lane south eastwards for a distance of approximately 545m.

2. that length of Butterfly Lane, Elstree from its junction with A5183 Watling Street south westwards to its junction with Aldenham Road, a distance of approximately 1073m.

The Order is needed because high voltage cable maintenance is proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.

The Order will come into effect from 29 July 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 8 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Church Crescent, St Albans from its junction with A5183 Verulam Road north eastwards for a distance of approximately 15m (“the Road”).

An alternative route will be via A5183 (Verulam Road/Folly Lane), A4147 Folly Lane, Gombards, Worley Road and Church Crescent.

The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order will come into effect from 28 July 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 1 day to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF ALDENHAM PUBLIC FOOTPATH NO.057) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all pedestrians from using Aldenham Public Footpath No.057 from its junction with Loom Lane north eastwards to its junction with Aldenham Public Footpath No.047, a distance of approximately 296m (“the Public Footpath”).

An alternative route will be via the footway situated on the north east side of Loom Lane, the footway situated on the west side of Aldenham Avenue and Aldenham Avenue Public Footpath No.047.

The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Public Footpath.

The Order will come into effect from 27 July 2026 and will be valid for a period of 6 months. The works are scheduled to take 6 weeks to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Public Footpath.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF BATTLERS GREEN DRIVE, RADLETT AND STATION ROAD/SMALLFORD LANE, SMALLFORD) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”), except for access:-

1. that length of Battlers Green Drive, Radlett from its junction with New Road north eastwards, north westwards and north eastwards to its junction with Willow Way, a distance of approximately 401m.

An alternative route will be via New Road, B462 Watford Road and Willow Way.

2. that length of Station Road/Smallford Lane, Smallford from its junction with the A1057 Hatfield Road roundabout south eastwards and south westwards to its junction with A414 London Colney longabout, a distance of approximately 1391m.

An alternative route will be via A1057 Hatfield Road, Colney Heath Lane and A414 London Colney longabout.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.

The Order will come into effect from 15 July 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 2 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Park Street Lane, Park Street from a point 71 metres south west of its junction with Tippendell Lane south westwards for a distance of approximately 79m (“the Road”).

An alternative route will be via Park Street Lane, A5183 (Park Street/Frogmore/Radlett Road), Smug Oak Lane, Station Road and Park Street Lane.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order will come into effect from 16 July 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 1 day to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

THE HERTFORDSHIRE (VARIOUS ROADS, WHEATHAMPSTEAD) (20 MPH ZONE) ORDER 2026

THE HERTFORDSHIRE (WHEATHAMPSTEAD ROAD, AMWELL LANE AND HARPENDEN ROAD, WHEATHAMPSTEAD) (40 MPH SPEED LIMIT) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that the Hertfordshire County Council has made Orders under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (1984 Act) to introduce new waiting restrictions, a 20 mph zone and a 40 mph speed limit restriction in parts of Wheathampstead as specified in the Schedules to this Notice. The Orders will come into effect on Monday 3 August 2026.

Documents giving more detailed particulars of the Orders may be viewed from 9 July 2026 to 20 August 2026 during office hours at Main Reception, Farnham House, Six Hills Way, Stevenage or online at www.hertfordshire.gov.uk/trafficorders by selecting St Albans and looking at Ref: SA00126.

Any person wishing to question the validity of the Orders, or any of their provisions, on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the 1984 Act, or that any requirement of the 1984 Act or any Instrument made under it has not been complied with may, within 6 weeks from the date of this Notice, apply to the High Court for this purpose.

SCHEDULE 1: No waiting at any time – that length of road listed below and as set out in the Order and scheme plans – part of Marford Road.
