What is happening?

THE BOROUGH OF BLACKBURN WITH DARWEN

(COLERIDGE STREET, BLACKBURN) (TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is hereby given that the Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council intend to make the above Order under Section 14 (1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

The effect of the Order is to close Coleridge Street for the following extent: From the junction with Hardman Street to the junction with Coleridge Street.

The closure is necessary for the following reason: to allow site preparation works, including clearance of the area and the movement and operation of construction vehicles.

The Order will come into force on 27th July 2026 and shall continue in force for a period of eighteen months or until the works are completed, whichever is the earlier. However, it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 27th January 2027.

The first alternative route for the affected traffic will be Montrose Street, Redlam Brow, St Philips Street, Lansdowne Street, Portland Street, Norman Street, Perth Street, Sandon Street, Bombay Street

The second alternative route for the affected traffic will be Norman Street, Portland Street, Lansdowne Street, St Philips Street, Redlam Brow, Montrose Street

Access for emergency vehicles and pedestrians will be maintained at all times.
