What is happening?

THE BOROUGH OF BLACKBURN WITH DARWEN

(STOPES BROW, BLACKBURN) (TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is hereby given that the Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council intend to make the above Order under Section 14 (1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

The effect of the Order is to close Stopes Brow for the following extent:

From the junction of Stopes Brow and Roman Road to the front of 113 on Stopes Brow.

The closure is necessary for the following reason: Demolition of the former Blackamoor Inn

The Order will come into force on 21st July 2026 and shall continue in force for a period of eighteen months or until the works are completed, whichever is the earlier. However, it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 7th August 2026.

The alternative route for the traffic affected will be Roman Road, Brandy House Brow, Grimshaw Park, Joiners Row, Park Road, Russell Street, Bolton Road, Alan Shearer Way, Livesey Branch Road, Branch Road, Fore Street, Rakes Bridge, Stopes Brow and vice versa.

Access for emergency vehicles and pedestrians will be maintained at all times.
