What is happening?

THE COUNTY OF CUMBRIA (VARIOUS ROADS, SOUTH LAKELAND AREA)
(CONSOLIDATION OF TRAFFIC REGULATIONS) (ORDER 2023)
VARIATION ORDER (NO. 4) 2026
Westmorland and Furness Council hereby give notice that on 7 July 2026 it made the above Order under Sections 1(1) and 2(1) to (4), 32, 35, 35A, 45, 46, 47, 49, 51, 53 and 64 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (RTA Act) and Part IV of Schedule 9 of the RTA Act and all other enabling provisions under the RTA Act and all other enabling acts.
The Order will come into operation on 18 July 2026 and its effect will be to introduce the following restrictions, as part of the A595 Grizebeck Improvement Scheme: -
i) no waiting at any time (double yellow line) on the U5958 [former] A595;
ii) prohibition of motor vehicles (except for access) on the C5013;
iii) prohibition of motor vehicles (except for access) on the C5014 Buckhorn Lane;
iv) prohibition of entry for northbound traffic only – U5958 Grizebeck Garage Service Road; and
v) prohibition of entry for southbound traffic only – U5958 Grizebeck Garage Service Road

(iii) at the offices of the undersigned; and
(iv) may otherwise be obtained by emailing

If you wish to question the validity of the Order or of any provision contained in it on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 or on the grounds that any requirement of that Act or any instrument made there under has not been complied with in relation to the Order, you may within six weeks of 7 July 2026 apply to the High Court for this purpose.
