What is happening?

SANDWELL METROPOLITAN BOROUGH COUNCIL

The Borough Council of Sandwell (Holyhead Road, Wednesbury) (Temporary One-Way Road Closure) Order 2026 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Holyhead Road, which will be closed in a northerly direction from west of its junction with Portway Road to the junction with Patent Shaft Roundabout. Access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits. Traffic will be diverted via Dudley Street, Steel Roundabout, Black Country New Road & vice versa. The maximum duration is 18 months, but the work is expected to be completed by 19/07/2026, effective from 18/07/2026 (8pm - 5am). Purpose – to facilitate access for maintenance works by Ericssons. The Borough Council of Sandwell (Horseley Heath, Tipton) (Temporary Cycle Lane Closure) Order 2026 intends to temporarily prohibit bicycles from proceeding along the cycle lane at Horseley Heath, which will be closed from east of its junction with Tame Road to west of its junction with Providence Street. Access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits. No diversion route will be signed as this is a cycle lane closure, cyclists to dismount and use the footpath. The maximum duration is 18 months, but the work is expected to commence and be completed by 20/07/2026 (9am - 3:30pm). Purpose – to facilitate access for maintenance works by Ericssons. The Borough Council of Sandwell (Marshall Street, Smethwick) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2026 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Marshall Street, which will be closed in its entirety from its junction with West Park Road to its junction with St Pauls Road. Access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits. Traffic will be diverted via St Pauls Road, Marshall Street & vice versa. The maximum duration is 18 months, but the work is expected to be completed by 20/07/2026, effective from 30/08/2026 (24hrs). The Borough Council of Sandwell (Devonshire Road, Smethwick) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2026 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Devonshire Road, which will be closed from the dividing line of property Nos 74 & 76 to the dividing line of property Nos 82 & 84. Access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits. Traffic will be diverted via Stony Lane, High Street, St Pauls Road, Holly Lane & vice versa. The maximum duration is 18 months, but the work is expected to commence and be completed by 21/07/2026 (8am - 6pm). Purpose – to facilitate access for repair works by Severn Trent Water. The Borough Council of Sandwell (Upper Chapel Street, Tividale, Oldbury) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2026 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding via Upper Chapel Street from its junction with Dudley Road West for a distance of 15 metres. Traffic will be diverted via Britannia Road, Dudley Road West & vice versa. The maximum duration is 18 months, but the work is expected to commence and be completed by 19/07/2026 (6am - 6pm only). The Borough Council of Sandwell (Halesowen Road, Lawrence Lane and Court Street, Cradley Heath) (Temporary One-Way Operation and Road Closures) Order 2026 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding the following roads in Cradley Heath: Halesowen Road – vehicles will be prohibited from travelling via Halesowen Road, other than in a northerly direction between Heathfield Way roundabout & Hill Passage. Anticipated dates are 20th July - 31st August 2026. Southbound traffic will be diverted via Highgate Street & Heathfield Way. Lawrence Lane – vehicles will be prohibited from travelling via Lawrence Lane from its junction with Halesowen Road for a distance of 25 metres. Anticipated dates are 3rd - 17th August 2026. Traffic will be diverted via Church Street, Court Street & vice versa. Court Street – vehicles will be prohibited from travelling via Court Street from its junction with Halesowen Road for a distance of 25 metres. Anticipated dates are 17th - 31st August 2026. Traffic will be diverted via Lawrence Lane, Church Street & vice versa. The maximum duration is 18 months, but the work is expected to be completed by 31/08/2026, effective from 20/07/2026. The Borough Council of Sandwell (Windmill Lane, Smethwick) (Temporary One-Way Road Closure) Order 2026 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Windmill Lane, which will be closed from the Grove Lane, Soho Way & Cranford Street roundabout to the junction of Messenger Road (southern side). Access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits. Traffic will be diverted via Grove Lane & Cape Hill. A no right turn restriction will be in operation from Messenger Road to Windmill Lane and traffic will be diverted via the route detailed above. The maximum duration is 18 months, but the work is expected to be completed by 23/07/2026 (6pm), effective from 22/07/2026 (8am). Purpose – to facilitate access to install two new access chambers and associated duct by Comex 2000 on behalf of Virgin Media. The Borough Council of Sandwell (Kelvin Way, West Bromwich) (Temporary One-Way Road Closure) Order 2026 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding one-way in a westerly direction along Kelvin Way, which will be closed from the roundabout at the junction of Kenrick Way/Spon Lane South & Trinity Way to the junction of Ault Street (eastern side). Traffic will be diverted via Spon Lane South, Oldbury Road, Birmingham Road, Oldbury Ringway, West Bromwich Street, Oldbury Road, Albion Road & Brandon Way. A traffic diversion route for access to Spon Lane will be signed via Trinity Way, High Street & Bull Street. The maximum duration is 18 months, but the work is expected to commence and be completed by 17/07/2026 (9:30am - 3:30pm). Purpose – to facilitate access for carriageway resurfacing by Parade Civil Engineering Ltd on behalf of Sandwell MBC. The Borough Council of Sandwell (Boscobel Avenue, Tipton) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2026 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Boscobel Avenue, which will be closed from the junction of Mayfair Gardens to the gable end of maisonette Nos 1/3. Access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits. Traffic will be diverted via Mayfair Gardens, Park Lane West, Brewery Street & vice versa. The maximum duration is 18 months, but the work is expected to commence and be completed by 21/07/2026 (9:30am - 3:30pm).
