What is happening?

HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL:

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF BARKWAY ROAD, NUTHAMPSTEAD) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Barkway Road, Nuthampstead from a point 610m north west of its junction with 3U877 (unnamed road) north westwards and north eastwards for a distance of approximately 100m (“the Road”), except for access.

An alternative route will be via Barkway Road, C11 (unnamed road), Raymouts Lane, C11 (unnamed road) and Barkway Road.

The Order is needed because the replacement of an existing telegraph pole is proposed to be executed near the Road.

The Order will come into effect from 30 July 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 2 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF BRIARY LANE, ROYSTON) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Briary Lane, Royston from its junction with Earls Hill Gardens north eastwards for a distance of approximately 40m (“the Road”), except for access.

The alternative route for northbound traffic will be via Briary Lane, Sun Hill, A10 (Market Hill/Priory Lane), Melbourn Street and Baldock Street.

There is no alternative route available for southbound traffic, but access will be maintained on Briary Lane.

The Order is needed because the replacement of an existing telegraph pole is proposed to be executed near the Road.

The Order will come into effect from 30 July 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 2 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF SHAFTENHOE END ROAD AND SMITHS END LANE, BARLEY) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”), except for access:-

1. that length of Shaftenhoe End Road, Barley from its junction with Church End south eastwards to its junctions with Bogmoor Road, a distance of approximately 856m.

An alternative route will be via Church End, B1368 London Road, Smiths End Lane and Bogmoor Lane.

2. that length of Smiths End Lane, Barley from its junction with Bogmoor Road north westwards, south westwards, north westwards, north eastwards and north westwards to its junction with B1368 London Road, a distance of approximately 1000m.

An alternative route will be via Bogmoor Road, Shaftenhoe End Road, Church End and B1368 London Road.

The Order is needed because the replacement of an existing telegraph pole is proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.

The Order will come into effect from 13 July 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 3 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING AND WAITING RESTRICTIONS ON REED END, THERFIELD) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Reed End, Therfield from its junction with Dane End south eastwards, north eastwards and south eastwards to its junction with A10 London Road, a distance of approximately 1146m (“the Road”), except for access.

An alternative route will be via Dane End, Rooks Nest Lane, C10 (unnamed road), Whiteley Lane and A10 (Ermine Street/London Road).

ADDITIONALLY all vehicles are prohibited from waiting at any time on both sides of this length of Road, whilst works are in progress.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order will come into effect from 13 July 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 10 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Road.
