What is happening?

CITY OF NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE (WAITING RESTRICTIONS AND ON STREET PARKING PLACES) ORDER 2026
REVIEW OF PARKING PERMIT FEES 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN by the Council of the City of Newcastle upon Tyne under the provisions of Section 46A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, that from Monday 3rd August 2026 the following parking permit fees contained in the City of Newcastle upon Tyne (Waiting Restrictions and On Street Parking Places) Order 2026 (“the 2026 Order”) shall be varied as follows -

1. The changes detailed in Table 1 below shall made to the following permit charges identified in Schedule 4 of the 2026 Order:

The parking places to which the changes in Table 1 relate are all those parking places designated by Articles 11 (Parking Permit Holder Parking Places), 12 (Parking Permit Holder Parking Places within Limited Waiting) and 12A (Parking Permit Holder Parking Places with Payment Parking) of the 2026 Order except for the parking places falling within the Parking Zones known by the Parking Zone Identifiers WL1, KP1, KP2 (where the current charges for Resident and Visitor Permits will not change).

The provisions for charges within KP3, KP4, KP5, KP6, KP7 and D13 remain as detailed in the Notes to Schedule 4 of the 2026 Order.

2. The changes detailed in Table 2 shall be made to the charges identified in the definitions of “City Centre Resident Permit Fee” and “City Centre Business Permit Fee” (within Article 2 of the 2026 Order):

The parking places to which the changes in Table 2 relate are those parking places designated by Article 9 of the 2026 Order (Payment Parking Places) and which are located in the City Centre.

Note: There will be no change to any Low Emission Discounts (“LED”). The LED in respect of these permits will remain as they are currently specified in the 2026 Order.
