What is happening?
SECTION 14(1) OF THE ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984
Notice is hereby given that the Wiltshire Council intends to make Orders to close temporarily to all traffic:
A) UC 10720I (Part), Winterbourne Monkton; from its property known as School House for a distance of approximately 100m in a north westerly direction to enable Openreach to carry out laying works and other associated works. Alternative route via UC 10720I (unaffected length) – A4361 and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 03 August 2026 and the closure will be required between the hours of 08:00 and 18:00 for 3 days. B) Hockley Road (Part), Ogbourne St Andrew; from its property known as Tufts for a distance of approximately 30m in a southerly direction to enable Openreach to carry out clear blockages. C) The Knapp (Part), Great Bedwyn; from its junction with Brook Street for a distance of approximately 50m in a northerly direction to enable Network Rail Infrastructure Ltd to carry out group of fir trees in Network Rail compound at Bedwyn Station have had multiple snapped out branches that are a cause for concern and could be a safety risk to members of the public using the footpath in and out the train station. Alternative route via The Knapp (unaffected length) – Farm Lane – Brook Street and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 03 August 2026 and the closure will be required between the hours of 09:00 and 16:00 for 3 days. D) UC 276901 (Part), Froxfield; from its property known as N.01 Searchlight Cottages for a distance of approximately 640m in a northerly direction to enable Openreach to carry out install new chamber, lay ducting and other associated works. Alternative route via C194 – A4 and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 04 August 2026 and the closure will be required for 4 days. E) Finches Lane (Part), Baydon; from outside its property known as Harlequin Software Ltd for a distance of approximately 356m in an easterly direction to enable Openreach to carry out lay 310m duct in CW and other associated works. Alternative route via Ermin Street and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 05 August 2026 and the closure will be required until 25 August 2026. F) Mill Lane, St Paul Malmesbury Without; from its junction with A429 for its entire length to enable Scottish and Southern Power Distribution to carry out overhead line works and other associated works. Alternative route via Down Road (unaffected length) – Drifton Hill – Down Road (unaffected length) and vice versa. Alternative route via Quakers Road (unaffected length) – Keepers Road – Roundway Park – London Road and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 13 July 2026 and the closure will be required until 18 September 2023 to its junction with C66 to enable Openreach to carry out customer cabling work and other associated works. Alternative route via C77 – Shiptons Lane – Hollow Street (unaffected length) and vice versa. Q) C189 (Part), Aldbourne; from a point approximately 210m west of its property known as West Leaze for a distance of approximately 1700m in a westerly direction to enable Openreach Limited to carry out to provide a safe working area for engineers to excavate and provide new ducting in verge to provide service to customer. Alternative route via C189 (unaffected length) – C191 – C190 – C189 (unaffected length) and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 15 July 2026 and the closure will be required between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30 for 3 days. This Order which previously came into operation on 02 October 2025 will now recommence on 15 July 2026 and the closure will be required between the hours of 08:00 and 17:00 for 3 days. S) C151 (Part), Castle Combe; from its junction with Dunns Lane for a distance of approximately 98m in an easterly direction to enable Openreach to carry out frame and cover repair works and other associated works. This Order which previously came into operation on 25 June 2026 will now recommence on 13 July 2026 and the closure will be required for 2 days. Orders A) to Q) will have a maximum duration of 18 months, Orders R) and S) has a maximum duration of 18 months. The closures and diversion routes will be clearly indicated by traffic signs. It is anticipated that the works will take the stated duration to complete depending upon weather conditions. Access will be maintained for residents and businesses where possible, although delays are likely due to the nature of the works.
SECTION 16A OF THE ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984
Notice is hereby given that the Wiltshire Council has made an Order to close temporarily to all vehicular traffic:
High Street (Part), Chippenham; from a point level with the traffic gate barrier to its junction with Market Place. These temporary traffic measures are required to safeguard members of the public and competitors whilst enabling the Chippenham “Longest Day 10K” Event to take place. This Order which was previously planned for Wednesday 24th June 2026 but due to adverse weather has now been reschedule to Wednesday 15th July 2026.with the exception of vehicles officially involved in the marathon, vehicles being used for ambulance, police or fire brigade purposes, or the purpose of a statutory undertaker in an emergency, or with permission being given by a Police Constable in uniform or a Community Safety (CSAS) accredited marshal. (40MPH SPEED LIMIT) ORDER 2026
Notice is given that Wiltshire Council proposes to make the above Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which will be to revoke The County of Wiltshire (A420 and C71, North Wraxall) (50mph Speed Limit) Order 2001 and to introduce a 40mph speed limit on A420, North Wraxall – from a point 90 metres west of its junction with C174 to Upper Wraxall to a point 430 metres east of its junction with C71; C71, North Wraxall – from a point 50 metres south of its junction with A420 to a point 140 metres north of that junction. Deposit copies of the draft Orders, plan and Statement of the Council’s Reasons for proposing to make the Orders may be inspected at the offices of Wiltshire Council, County Hall, Bythesea Road, Trowbridge during normal office hours. The Wiltshire Council Parish of Worton Path no.10 (part) Extinguishment and Definitive Map and Statement Modification Order 2026
On 29 June 2026, Wiltshire Council confirmed the above order made under section 118 of the Highways Act 1980. The effect of the order as confirmed is to extinguish the length of Public Footpath no.10 Worton at the Old Mill, from its junction with Mill Road at OSGR ST 9663-5756 leading in a generally south-easterly direction for approx 28m and then east-south-east for approx 18m to its junction with the unaffected section of Footpath no.10 Worton at OSGR ST 9665-5752, having a width of 1.8m, as shown on the order map and thereupon the Devizes Rural District Council Area Definitive Map and Statement dated 1952 shall be modified accordingly. A copy of the order as confirmed and map have been placed and may be seen free of charge at Definitive Map and Highway Records, Wiltshire Council, County Hall, Bythesea Road, Trowbridge, Wiltshire, BA14 8JN, from 9am to 5pm on Mon - Fri by appointment.
