HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL:

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF VARIOUS ROADS IN WALTHAM CROSS, CHESHUNT, HODDESDON AND WALKERN) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”), except for access:-

1. that length of Bisley Close, Waltham Cross from its junction with Park Lane north eastwards for its entire length. There is no alternative route available, but access will be maintained wherever possible throughout the duration of the works.

2. that length of Leyland Close, Cheshunt from its junction with A10 Great Cambridge Road north westwards for its entire length. There is no alternative route available, but access will be maintained wherever possible throughout the duration of the works.

3. that length of Maybury Avenue, Cheshunt from its junction with B156 Flamstead End Road eastwards for its entire length. There is no alternative route available, but access will be maintained wherever possible throughout the duration of the works.

4. that length of Pine Close, Cheshunt from its junction with A10 Great Cambridge Road north westwards for its entire length.
There is no alternative route available, but access will be maintained wherever possible throughout the duration of the works.

5. that length of River Avenue, Hoddesdon from its junction with Rye Road southwards and south eastwards to its junction with Stortford Road, a distance of approximately 358m. An alternative route will be via Rye Road, Gladstone Road and Stortford Road.

6. that length of Swanfield Road, Waltham Cross from its junction with Central Avenue south eastwards to its junction with Eastern Avenue, a distance of approximately 78m. There is no alternative route available, but access will be maintained wherever possible throughout the duration of the works.

7. that length of Totts Lane, Walkern from its junction with B1037 High Street south eastwards, north eastwards, south eastwards and north eastwards to its junction with Winters Lane, a distance of approximately 275m. An alternative route will be via B1037 High Street and Winters Lane.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.

The Order will come into effect from 24 July 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 7 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF WORSTED LANE, LITTLE HORMEAD) ORDER NO.2 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Worsted Lane, Little Hormead from a point 480m south west of its junction with The Street north eastwards for a distance of approximately 100m (“the Road”), except for access.

An alternative route will be via B1368 (unnamed road), B1038 (unnamed road/Conduit Lane/Pump Hill), C15 (unnamed road), Ginns Road, The Wash and The Street.

The Order is needed because the replacement of an existing telegraph pole is proposed to be executed near the Road.

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of 3U151 (unnamed road), Wareside from its junction with Fanhams Hall Road north eastwards for a distance of approximately 987m (“the Road”), except for access.

An alternative route will be via Fanhams Hall Road, C41 (unnamed road), B1004 (Ware Road/High Street/Medcalf Hill/Widford Road), Kettle Green Lane, Cold Christmas Lane and 3U151 (unnamed road).

ADDITIONALLY all vehicles are prohibited from waiting at any time on both sides of this length of road, whilst works are in progress.

1. that length of B181 Roydon Road, Stanstead Abbotts from its junction with B181 High Street south eastwards and north eastwards to its junction with B180 Hunsdon Road, a distance of approximately 600m.

An alternative route will be via B181 (High Street/Station Road), A414 Eastwick Road and B181 Roydon Road.

2. that length of Horn Road, Hertford from its junction with B158 Bullocks Lane north westwards and north eastwards to its junction with West Street, a distance of approximately 522m.

An alternative route will be via B158 (Bullocks Lane/Pegs Lane/Hale Road), A414 (Gascoyne Way/Hertingfordbury Road/Gascoyne Way) and B158 (Hale Road/Pegs Lane/ Bullocks Lane).

3. that length of Pye Corner, Gilston from its junction with Gilston Lane north eastwards to its junction with Redricks Lane, a distance of approximately 795m.

An alternative route will be via Eastwick Road, A414 (Fifth Avenue/Edinburgh Way), A1184 (Cambridge Road/Harlow Road) and Redricks Lane.

4. the A10 northbound slip road leading from the B1001 Westmill Road/A602 Westmill Road roundabout, Ware from its junction with the B1001 Westmill Road/A602 Westmill Road roundabout north eastwards to its junction with the northbound carriageway of A10 (unnamed road), a distance of approximately 621m.

An alternative route will be via A10 (unnamed road), the A414 Rush Green roundabout and A10 (unnamed road).

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.

The Order will come into effect from 27 July 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 7 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.
