What is happening?

THE BOROUGH COUNCIL OF GATESHEAD (CHRISTADELPHIAN CHURCH, BENSHAM) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2026

Notice is hereby given that the Borough Council of Gateshead proposes to make an Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along the road as set out in Schedule 1 below and temporarily prohibit vehicles from Waiting, Loading or Stopping on the road as set out in Schedule 2.

The Order is required to facilitate works on the highway to replace a hydrant frame. The Order will come into force on 28 July 2026.

The maximum duration of the Order will be 18 months; however, the works are expected to be completed by 29 July 2026. During the works all vehicles will be prohibited from proceeding along the road and Waiting, Loading or Stopping as set out in the Schedules below until the works are completed or at such times and to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the display of traffic signs.

During the works there will be a signed diversion in place.

Worcester Green Access Road -
Ely Street to Peterborough Close
From its junction with Ely
Street in a northerly direction
for 10 metres

Schedule 2 - Temporary Prohibition of Waiting, Stopping or Loading

Street Side Description
Alexandra Road West From its junction with Chichester Close
in a southerly direction for 17 metres
