What is happening?

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PUBLIC RIGHTS OF WAY
THE NOTTINGHAMSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL

(NATIONAL GRID STOKE BARDOLPH TO RATCLIFFE ON SOAR PUBLIC PATHS)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Nottinghamshire County Council intends not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order, under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be:-

No person shall:-
(a) proceed on foot,
(b) cause any pedal cycle to proceed,
(c) cause any horse to proceed and
(d) cause any animal to proceed,
in the following lengths of Public Right of Way between Stoke Bardolph and Ratcliffe on Soar in the District of Newark and Sherwood and the Borough of Rushcliffe.

Pull 1
Radcliffe on Trent Footpath No.1 - from its junction with the A52 Grantham Road for a distance of approximately 200 metres where the path passes close to worksite for overhead line pull.

IT IS INTENDED that the prohibition will apply as follows:-
From 4th August 2026 to 13th September 2026

Pull 2
Radcliffe on Trent Footpath No.1 - from its junction with the A52 Grantham Road for a distance of approximately 200 metres where the path passes close to worksite for overhead line pull.
and
Cotgrave Footpath No.2 - for a distance of approximately 200 metres where the path passes under the overhead lines.

IT IS INTENDED that the prohibition will apply as follows: - From 1st September 2026 to 1st October 2026

Pull 3
Grantham Canal Towpath - will remain open but will be marshalled for safety when cable work is taking place.

Cotgrave Bridleway No.6 - Between its junction with the old Fosse Way (A46) and its exits onto Fosse Walk and Eastwold in Cotgrave.
and
Cotgrave Restricted Byway 33 - From its junction with Owthorpe Road to its junction with Cotgrave Restricted Byway 7 and Cotgrave Bridleway No.32.
and
Cotgrave Restricted Byway 7 - From its junction with Cotgrave Restricted Byway 33 to its junction with Cotgrave Bridleway No.8.
And
Cotgrave Bridleway No.8 - From its junction with Cotgrave Restricted Byway 7 to its junction with Cotgrave Bridleway No.10.
And
Cotgrave Bridleway No.11 continuing as Clipston Bridleway No.3 - its entire length between Clipston Bridleway No.2 and Cotgrave Bridleway No.8.
And
Clipston on the Wolds Bridleway No.2 - Its entire length.

IT IS INTENDED that the prohibition will apply as follows: - From 14th September 2026 to 22nd October 2026 Pull 4
Plumtree Footpath No.12 - Its entire length between the A606 Melton Road and Station Road, Plumtree.
and
Plumtree Footpath No.8 continuing as Keyworth Footpath No.10 - Where it passes under the overhead lines
And
Bradmore Bridleway No.1 (Mill Lane) - between Loughborough Road and Barn Farm
And
Bradmore Footpath No.2 - Its entire length between Rushcliffe Country Park and Main Street, Bradmore
And
Ruddington Footpath No.7 continuing as Bunny Footpath No.7- From Moorend Farm to its junction with Bunny Footpath No. 7 and No.17. (access will be maintained from
Ruddington Footpath No.6 as far as Moorend Farm) but will be closed where it passes under the overhead cables

IT IS INTENDED that the prohibition will apply as follows: - From 22nd July 2026 to 27th August 2026

Pull 5
Ruddington Footpath No.7 continuing as Bunny Footpath No.7- From Moorend Farm to its junction with Bunny Footpath No. 7 and No.17. (access will be maintained from
Ruddington Footpath No.6 as far as Moorend Farm) but will be closed where it passes under the overhead cables
and
Ruddington Footpath No.6 - From its junction with Ruddington Footpath No.7 to the junction with Ruddington Footpath No.8 (Moor Lane)

IT IS INTENDED that the prohibition will apply as follows: - From 1st September 2026 to 7th October 2026

Pull 6
Gotham Bridleway No.3 - between its junction with Leake Road, Gotham and its junction with Gotham Footpath No.4 and Bridleway No.1.
and
Gotham Footpath No.2 - from its junction with Gotham Footpath No.22 and 23 to its junction with Bridleway No.1 and Footpath No.5.
and
Gotham Bridleway No.1- from Kegworth Road to the parish boundary with Thrumpton Bridleway No.4.
and
Gotham Footpath No.13 Continuing as Ratcliffe on Soar Footpath No.4 - From Kegworth Road to West Leake Lane.

IT IS INTENDED that the prohibition will apply as follows: - From 24th September 2026 to 30th October 2026

The prohibition shall apply to enable works to be carried out and in respect of the likelihood of danger to the public and damage to the paths. It may also apply on subsequent days when it shall be necessary. If the works are not completed within 6 months, the Order may be extended.

The prohibition is required to enable essential National Grid Overhead Cable Replacement Works, and in respect of the likelihood of danger to the public and damage to the paths.

THIS CLOSURE WILL ONLY TAKE EFFECT WHEN SIGNS INDICATING CLOSURE ARE
DISPLAYED, THE DATES STATED IN THIS NOTICE ARE GUIDELINES THERE MAY BE SOME VARIATIONS TO THIS DEPENDING ON PROGRESS.
THIS NOTICE IS DATED THIS 10TH DAY OF JULY 2026.
