THE SURREY COUNTY COUNCIL

Proposed Raised Parallel Cyclist and Pedestrian Controlled Crossings and a Raised Table in A3100 London Road, A25 Parkway and A25 Boxgrove Road, Guildford

Notice is hereby given that Surrey County Council, in exercise of their powers under Section 90(A) to (I) inclusive of the Highways Act 1980, Section 23 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Section 23(2)(A) of the said Act of 1984, propose to introduce a series of physical measures to improve road safety and pedestrian and cyclist crossing facilities at the roundabout junction of A3100 London Road, A25 Parkway and A25 Boxgrove Road, Guildford “the Boxgrove Roundabout” by establishing Raised Parallel Cyclist and Pedestrian Controlled Crossings and a stand-alone Raised Table as follows:-

1. A25 Parkway, Guildford – the western arm of “the Boxgrove Roundabout”:-

a) A Raised Parallel Crossing on A25 Parkway, Guildford – eastbound on the dedicated left turn lane, centred at a point 67.4m east (along the eastbound kerbline) of the 30/40mph speed limit terminal signs.
b) A Raised Parallel Crossing on A25 Parkway, Guildford – eastbound towards the primary roundabout circulatory, centred at a point 67.4m east (along the eastbound kerbline) of the 30/40mph speed limit terminal signs.
c) A Raised Parallel Crossing on A25 Parkway, Guildford – westbound exit from the primary roundabout circulatory, centred at a point 63.2m east (along the westbound kerbline) of the 30/40mph speed limit terminal signs.

2. A3100 London Road (North), Guildford – the north-eastern arm of “the Boxgrove Roundabout”:-
a) A Raised Parallel Crossing on A3100 London Road (North), Guildford – north-eastbound on the dedicated left turn lane, centred at a point 44.4m south-west (along the north-eastbound kerbline), from a point in-line with the property boundary between “The Clockhouse’”(retirement living complex) and the ambulance station.
b) A Raised Parallel Crossing on A3100 London Road, (North) Guildford – north-eastbound exit from the primary roundabout circulatory, centred at a point 44.4m south-west (along the northeastbound kerbline), from a point in-line with the property boundary between “The Clockhouse” and the ambulance station.
c) A Raised Parallel Crossing on A3100 London Road, (North) Guildford – south-westbound towards primary roundabout circulatory, centred at a point 48.9m south-west (along the proposed south-westbound kerbline), from a point in-line with the property boundary between “The Clockhouse” and the ambulance station.

3. A25 Boxgrove Road, Guildford – the south-eastern arm of “the Boxgrove Roundabout”:-
a) A Raised Parallel Crossing on A25 Boxgrove Road, Guildford – south-eastbound exit from the primary roundabout circulatory, centred at a point 59.0m north-west (along the south-eastbound kerbline) from a point in-line with the property boundary between “The Clockhouse” and “No. 70 Boxgrove Road”.
b) A Raised Parallel Crossing on A25 Boxgrove Road, Guildford -north-westbound towards the primary roundabout circulatory, centred at a point 55.0m north-west (along the north-westbound kerbline) from a point in-line with the property boundary between “The Clockhouse” and “No. 70 Boxgrove Road”

4. A3100 London Road (south), Guildford – the southern arm of “the Boxgrove Roundabout”:-
a) A Raised Parallel Crossing on A3100 London Road (south), Guildford – southbound exit from the primary roundabout circulatory, centred at a point 31.8m north (along the proposed southbound kerbline) from the northern most extents of the (existing) bus stop layby on the southbound side of A3100 London Road (south)
b) A Raised Parallel Crossing on A3100 London Road (south), Guildford – northbound towards the primary roundabout circulatory, centred at a point 31.8m north (along the proposed southbound kerbline) from the northern most extents of the (existing) bus stop layby on the southbound side of A3100 London Road (south). Each of the proposed Raised Parallel Crossings specified and described in sub-sections 1. to 4. above are to be positioned on top of full-width (kerb-to-kerb) Raised Tables. The centre point of each of the proposed Raised Tables is to align with the centre points of the proposed Parallel Crossings as described above. Each of the proposed Raised Tables are to be installed at a height of 75mm, be 7.5m in length (across the flat table top), with 1.5m length ramps at either end (at 1:20 gradients). The Raised Parallel Crossings which are proposed to be installed on top of the proposed Raised Tables are each to be 6.6m in width, comprised of a 3.2m width zebra crossing for pedestrians, a 3.0m delineated route for cyclists, and a 400mm gap between the two.

5. A Raised Table which extends the full width of the carriageway, is 4.0m in length (across the flat table top), at a height of 75mm with 1.5m length ramps at either end (at 1:20 gradients), is proposed to be installed across the (revised) vehicular exit from “The Clockhouse” into A3100 London Road, to be centred at a point 5.5m west (along the proposed westbound kerbline) from a point in-line with the highway boundary and “The Clockhouse”.

If you wish to object to, or make representations about, the above proposals, including any in support, you must send them in writing, stating the grounds on which they are made, (i) using the online form via the webpage quoted above; or (ii) to the undersigned, at Traffic Regulation Orders Team, Hazel House, Merrow Lane, Guildford, Surrey, GU4 7BQ, by 07 August 2026.
