What is happening?

CITY OF BRISTOL

(VARIOUS ROADS, EASTON AREA, EASTON, EASTVILLE AND LAWRENCE HILL WARDS, CITY OF BRISTOL) (PROHIBITION AND RESTRICTION OF WAITING) (PROHIBITION OF STOPPING) (LOADING PLACES) (CAR CLUB PARKING PLACES) (DISABLED PERSONS’ PARKING PLACES) (ELECTRIC VEHICLE PARKING PLACES) ORDER 2026

The City Council of Bristol hereby gives NOTICE that on 2nd July 2026 it made a traffic order, the effect of which is:-

1. to introduce 7am-9pm electric vehicle parking places in Carlyle Road, east side, and Chelsea Park, north side, to be used free of charge by electric vehicles that are being recharged with a maximum stay of 4 hours and an interval before which vehicles can be left again of 1 hour;

2. to introduce prohibition of waiting arrangements for vehicles in Berkeley Grove, Bridge Street, Edward Street, Gadshill Road, Gloucester Street and Royate Hill;

3. to introduce prohibition of loading/unloading arrangements for vehicles in Coombe Road and Freeland Buildings;

4. to revise prohibition of waiting arrangements for vehicles in Co-operation Road and Greenbank View;

5. to revise the existing no stopping prohibition on school entrance markings for vehicles in East Park; and

6. to revise the Car Club parking place in Co-operation Road to relocate it 3 metres eastwards.

NOTE: the provision at item 4. above in relation to Greenbank View is a modification to the proposals (published on 2nd October 2025 – reference CAE/RGW/P-1332) following the consideration of representations subsequently made to the Council.

The order will come into operation on 15th August 2026 and a copy thereof, together with plans, a Statement of the Council’s Reasons for making the order and a copy of the order being revoked may be inspected at the Citizen Service Point, 100 Temple Street, Bristol, BS1 6AG, between 10.00 a.m. and 4.00 p.m. on Monday to Friday.

Any person who desires to question the validity of, or of any provision contained in the order on the grounds that it is not within the relevant powers of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, or on the grounds that any of the relevant requirements of that Act has not been complied with in relation to the order, may within six weeks after the date on which the order was made, apply to the High Court for this purpose.
