What is happening?

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Berkeley Road, Clacton On Sea in the District of Tendring, from a point approximately 30m north east of its junction with Oxford Road for a distance of approximately 10m in a north easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 20th July 2026 for 9 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EC30012379883 – UK Power Networks). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while electrical maintenance works are undertaken by UK Power Networks.

No alternative route is available.

The Order came into effect on 2nd July 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic & Temporary Introduction of a Clearway) (No.13) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

  1. To temporarily close that length of road in the District of Tendring as specified in the Schedule.
  2. A temporary "No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping" restriction will be introduced on both sides of the carriageway on the above length of road, for the duration of the closure to facilitate the works. Signs will be installed indicating when the No Waiting restriction will be in force.

The Essex County Council: (Tendring District) (Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Stopping) and (On Street Parking Places) (Civil Enforcement Area) Consolidation Order 2019 will be temporarily amended to include the temporary "No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping at Any Time" restriction and suspend any existing parking and waiting restrictions on the above length of road only. All other restrictions and exemptions contained in the aforementioned Order and Amendments to that Order shall remain in force.

The works being undertaken will take place within an 18-month period from 2nd July 2026 exact dates will be specified on one.network. The road will be closed to facilitate each phase of works and then re-opened to the public. Access will be maintained for emergency services. Diversion routes will be signed at each location and residents will be informed of the dates of each phase via letter/leaflet drop and advanced warning signs on the road.
