Harleston Way - Footpath Closure to Facilitate Gas Mains Replacement Works
What is happening?
THE BOROUGH COUNCIL OF GATESHEAD (HARLESTON WAY - FOOTPATH CLOSURE) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2026
Notice is hereby given that the Borough Council of Gateshead proposes to make an Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit pedestrians and cyclists from proceeding along Harleston Way Footpath, from its junction with Harleston Way to its junction with Albion Street at Gable End of Number 3 Albion Street.
The Order is required to facilitate gas mains replacement works. The Order will come into force on 27 July 2026 at 00:00 hours. The maximum duration of the Order will be 6 months; however, the works are expected to be completed by 14 August 2026 at 23:59 hours. During the works all pedestrians (except operatives associated with the works and emergency service operatives on duty) and cyclists will be prohibited from proceeding along the above footpath until the works are completed or at such times and to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the display of traffic signs. During the prohibition there will be a signed diversion in place.
