Notice of Temporary Traffic Regulation Order

Notice is hereby given that North Somerset Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, intend to make an order the effect of which:

East Street and Towerhead Road, Banwell, North Somerset

Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles, Cyclists, Equestrians and Pedestrians Order 2026

Date coming into force: 27 July 2026

Ref: T26-61

Will be to close temporarily to vehicles, cycles, pedestrians and equestrians, the lengths of roads specified in the schedule 1 to this Notice and to close temporarily to vehicles and equestrians, the lengths of roads specified in the schedule 2 to this Notice. Exemptions are included for any vehicle associated with the works and for access to properties only accessible from within the specified lengths of roads.

This Order is because of work being executed on the road by North Somerset Council to construct highway improvements and will become operative on the 27 July 2026 for a maximum period of eighteen months. However, the closures may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only as necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be over a five week period. Appropriate traffic management and signage will be displayed when the measures are in force.

Schedule 1 - East Street, Banwell from Eastermead Lane for approximately 175m westwards.

Schedule 2 - Towerhead Road from Eastermead lane for approximately 200m eastwards.

Alternative Routes - vehicles and equestrians: A368 (Towerhead Road, Road, Station Road, Greenhill Road, Dinghurst Road), A38 (Bristol Road), B3133 (Stock Lane, Brinsea Road, High Street), A370 (Station Road, Weston Road, Bristol Road, Somerset Avenue), A371 (Locking Moor Road, Knightcott Road, West Street), A368 (East Street) and vice-versa. Pedestrians and Cyclists: Eastermead Lane, public right of way AX3/9/10, Riverside Church Street, West Street, East Street and vice-versa.

Milton Park Road and Clarkson Avenue, Weston-super-Mare, North Somerset

Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles and Cyclists

Date coming into force: 3 August 2026

Will be to close, temporarily, to vehicles and cyclists the lengths of roads specified in the Schedule to this Notice.

This order is required in the interest of public safety and to facilitate installation of road humps, kerb build out, lining and signing works. It will become operative on the 3 August 2026 for a maximum period of eighteen months. However, the restrictions may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only as necessitated, which is expected to be for 2 weeks in duration between 8am and 5pm. Appropriate traffic signs, cones, road safety barriers and traffic diversion route signage will be displayed when the measures are in force.

Schedule - Milton Park Road the entire length. Clarkson Avenue from the junction with Milton Road to a point 22m from the junction.

Alternative routes - The Crescent, Upper Bristol Road, Baytree Road, Milton Road and vice-versa.

Woodborough Road and Sandford Road, Winscombe, North Somerset

Temporary Prohibition of Waiting and Loading Order 2023

Will be to prohibit, temporarily, waiting and loading to all vehicles on the lengths of roads specified in the Schedule to this Notice. Exemptions are included for emergency services, works access, and for enforcement of the restrictions.

This order is required because of the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon additional traffic diverting through the roads in the Schedule to this Notice during works by North Somerset Council to construct Banwell Bypass. This will become operative on the 27 July 2026 for a maximum period of 18 months. However, the closures may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only as necessitated by the works which is anticipated to be of five weeks in duration. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed when the measures are in force.

Schedule - Woodborough Road, Winscombe between the junction with Nippors Way and the junction with Apple Tree Drive. Sandford Road, Winscombe from the junction with Woodborough Road to the junction of Well Close.

Dinghurst Road, Churchill, North Somerset

Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles Order 2026

Date coming into Force: 8 September 2026

Will be to close, temporarily, to vehicles the lengths of roads specified in the Schedule to this Notice. Exemptions are included for emergency services, works access, works vehicles and as works permit for premises which may only be accessed via the closed section of road.

This order is required because of the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon work by Openreach to access existing telegraph pole for cabling for a new customer connection. This order will become operative on the 8 September 2026 for a maximum period of eighteen months. However, the closures may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only as necessitated by the works which is anticipated to be of 6 hours in duration between 9.30am and 3.30pm. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed when the measures are in force.

Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles Order 2026

Will be to close, temporarily, to vehicles the lengths of roads specified in the Schedule to this Notice. Exemptions are included for emergency services, works access, works vehicles and as works permit for premises which may only be accessed via the closed section of road.

This order is required because of the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon work by Wessex Water Services for a Section 81 cover replacement. This order will become operative on the 20 October 2026 for a maximum period of eighteen months. However, the closures may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only as necessitated by the works which is anticipated to be of 1 day in duration between 9.30am and 3.30pm. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed when the measures are in force.

Will be to close, temporarily, to pedestrians the lengths of footpaths specified in the Schedule to this Notice. Exemptions are included for emergency services, works access and as works permit for premises which may only be accessed via the closed section of footpath.

This order is required because of the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon work by Openreach to Install new services to existing network. This order will become operative on the 14 September 2026 for a maximum period of six months. However, the closures may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only as necessitated by the works which is anticipated to be of 3 days in duration. Notice is hereby given that North Somerset Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, has made an order the effect of which:

Well Lane, Knightcott, Wolvershill Road and Riverside, Banwell, A371 and A368, Weston-super-Mare, Banwell, Sandford and Churchill, and Churchill Green, Churchill, North Somerset

(Temporary 20mph, 30mph and 40mph Speed Limit Orders) Order 2026

Date coming into force: 9 July 2026

Is to restrict, temporarily, any vehicle from exceeding (1) 20mph on the lengths of road specified in Schedule 1 to this Notice (2) 30mph on the lengths of road specified in Schedule 2 to this Notice (3) 40mph on the lengths of road specified in Schedule 3 to this Notice. Exemptions are included for emergency services.

This order was necessary in the interest of public safety and the facilitation of road works as part of the Banwell Bypass and Highway Improvement works being undertaken by North Somerset Council. The order will become operative on 9 July 2026 for a maximum period of eighteen months. Knightcott, Banwell between the two junctions with Well Lane. Wolvershill Road, Banwell from Stonebridge Farm for a distance of approximately 400m northwest. Riverside, Banwell from a point approximately 100m north of Moor Road for a distance of approximately 300m north. A368 Towerhead Road, Banwell from Police House for a distance of approximately 400m east, and from Station Road for a distance of approximately 50m west. A368 Station Road, Sandford from Towerhead Road for a distance of approximately 100m. A368 Greenhill Road, Sandford from Greenhill Lane for a distance of approximately 160m east. A368 Dinghurst Road, Churchill for a distance of approximately 75m in each direction from the junction with Hilliers Lane.

Schedule 3 - Churchill Green, Churchill from the junction with Duck Street for a distance of approximately 140m southeast.

However, the closures may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only as necessitated by the works which is anticipated to be of 5 hours in duration between 7am to 12pm. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed when the measures are in force.

Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles Order 2026

Date coming Into Force: 27 July 2026

This order was required because of the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon work by Wals & West Utilities to replace gas mains and renew/transfer service pipes to adjacent premises. This order will become operative on the 27 July 2026 for a maximum period of eighteen months. However, the closures may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only as necessitated by the works which is anticipated to be of 26 days in duration. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed when the measures are in force.
