(ALDERSEY GARDENS, BARKING) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF VEHICULAR TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026
NOTICE OF INTENT
1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that in order to facilitate sewer cleaning, the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham intends to make a Temporary Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
2. The order is expected to come in to effect on Thursday 23 July 2026. The works expected are:
• Sewer cleaning works to take 2 days to complete. Completion dates estimated as Friday 24 July 2026 with the work expected to be undertaken in 2 phases between the hours of 9.00am and 5.00pm.
However, the Order will remain in force for 18 months to be re-introduced should further works be required.
3. When the works are taking place and the appropriate traffic signs are being displayed the Order will temporarily:
• Phase 1
• Suspend the Local Bus, Cycle & Taxi Lane Mon-Sat 7am-7pm on Longbridge Road, south-westbound carriageway, from a point in line with the extended common boundary of Nos. 120 and 122 Longbridge Road to a point 1 metre north-east of the extended common boundary of Nos. 138 and 140 Longbridge Road.
• Prohibit all vehicular traffic on the lane closure on Longbridge Road, south-westbound carriageway, from a point 3.3 metres south-west of the extended common boundary of Nos. 130 and 132 Longbridge Road to a point in line with the extended common boundary of Nos. 122 and 124 Longbridge Road.
• Suspend the Pedestrian Crossing on Longbridge Road, both sides, outside No. 142 Longbridge Road.
• Phase 2
• Suspend the Local Bus, Cycle & Taxi Lane Mon-Sat 7am-7pm on Longbridge Road, south-westbound carriageway, from a point in line with the extended common boundary of Nos. 138 and 140 Longbridge Road to a point 1 metre north-east of the extended common boundary of Nos. 128 and 130 Longbridge Road.
• Prohibit all vehicular traffic on the lane closure on Longbridge Road, south-westbound carriageway, from a point 4.2 metres south-west of the extended common boundary of Nos. 134 and 136 Longbridge Road to a point in line with the extended common boundary of Nos. 130 and 132 Longbridge Road.
• Prohibit all vehicular traffic on Aldersey Gardens, both sides, from its junction with Longbridge Road for 8.7 metres in a south-easterly direction.
• Prohibit all vehicular traffic (Except for Access and Egress) on Aldersey Gardens, both sides, from a point 8.7 metres south-east of its junction with Longbridge Road to its junction with Rosslyn Road.
• Prohibit all vehicles from turning left from Longbridge Road into Aldersey Gardens.
• Suspend the Pedestrian Crossing on Longbridge Road, both sides, outside No. 142 Longbridge Road.
4. Alternative routes for Vehicular traffic will be maintained and signed:
• For Phase 2, via Longbridge Road (A124), Wilmington Gardens and Rosslyn Road.
• For Phase 2, via Longbridge Road (A124), Hurstbourne Gardens, Levett Road, Hulse Avenue and Rosslyn Road.
5.When this closure is in place the following locations will temporarily be controlled by:
• For Phase 1, 2-way traffic light signals on Longbridge Road, outside No. 120 Longbridge Road, and outside No. 132 Longbridge Road.
• For Phase 2, 2-way traffic light signals on Longbridge Road, outside No. 128 Longbridge Road, and at the extended common boundary of Nos. 134 and 136 Longbridge Road.
