What is happening?

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 – SECTION 14
THE M180 MOTORWAY (JUNCTION 1 TO JUNCTION 4)
(TEMPORARY RESTRICTION OF TRAFFIC)

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited intends to make an Order on the M180 Motorway, in the County of North Lincolnshire, to enable site clearance, drainage, resurfacing, road markings, bridge works, survey work, sign replacement, electrical installation, horticultural works, maintenance and all other associated works to be carried out in safety.

The works are expected to start on Monday 3 August 2026 for 2 months, or until completed.

It will also be necessary, for 24 hours a day, to impose a temporary 50 mph speed restriction on the M180:

(i) eastbound carriageway from 1300 west of Idle Bank overbridge to 3370 metres east of Outmill overbridge; and

(ii) westbound carriageway from 400 metres east of Moor Road overbridge to 200 metres west of Idle Bank overbridge.

Traffic management will be in force 24 hours a day and traffic signs will indicate the extent of the restrictions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or special forces vehicles) and prohibitions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or vehicles being used in connection with the said works or for winter maintenance or traffic officer purposes).

The Order comes into force on 2 August 2026 and has a maximum duration of eighteen months.
