What is happening?

THE LANCASHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
(BRIDLEWAY BW0339020 SAWLEY & PUBLIC FOOTPATHS FP0339027, FP0339024 and FP0339025 SAWLEY, RIBBLE VALLEY BOROUGH)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Lancashire County Council have made an Order under Section 16A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit all traffic from proceeding over those lengths of Bridleway BW0339020 Sawley, and Public Footpaths FP0339027, FP0339024 and FP0339025 Sawley, Ribble Valley Borough, indicated below:-

Bridleway BW0339020 Sawley, Ribble Valley, (F – G) from Point F (GR 378971 447350) in a generally east north easterly direction for approximately 575 metres to Point G (GR 379519 447493)

Public Footpath FP0339027 Sawley, Ribble Valley (D – E) from Point D (GR 378870 447295) in a generally north easterly direction for approximately 760 metres to Point E (GR 379343 447850).

Public Footpath FP0339024 Sawley, Ribble Valley (H – G) from Point H (GR 379431 447079) in a generally north north easterly direction for approximately 450 metres to junction with FP0339025 near Point G (GR 379519 447493).

Public Footpath FP0339025 Sawley, Ribble Valley (A – B – C) from Point A (GR 379670 447200) in a generally north north westerly direction for approximately 745 metres to Point B (GR 379243 447785), and in a generally north easterly direction for approximately 105 metres to Point C (GR 379319 447847), a total distance of approximately 850 metres

Access for pedestrians to any premises situated on or adjacent to the bridleway and footpaths, or to any other premises accessible for pedestrians from, and only from, the bridleway or footpaths, will be maintained at all times.

Nothing in the order shall apply to emergency service vehicles or to those with permission in connection with the event.

The temporary prohibition is necessary to facilitate the holding of an event namely the Beat-Herder Festival 2026.

The Order will be operative from Monday 6th July, 2026 – Monday 27th July, 2026. The Secretary of State has agreed pursuant to S16B(1)(b) that the Order continue in force for this period
