NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Assistant Director Infrastructure and Regulatory Services of the Wigan Borough Council in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and delegated to her by the said Council proposes to make the Wigan Borough (Wigan Lane, Wigan (Bus Lane Only)) (Temporary Closure) Order 2026.
The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any person from driving a vehicle or causing or permitting a vehicle to be driven on Wigan Lane, Wigan (Bus Lane Only) from 10th August 2026 until 12th August 2026.
There is no alternative route for traffic as this is a bus lane closure only.
The Order is necessary to allow new service connection.
Wigan Borough Public Footpath (Ashton No. 36 (Part) & Unnamed Path) Temporary Diversion Order

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Assistant Director Infrastructure and Regulatory Services of the Wigan Borough Council in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and delegated to her by the said Council proposes to make the Wigan Borough Public Footpath (Ashton No.36 (Part) & Unnamed Path) (Temporary Diversion) Order 2026. The effect of the Order means that no person shall, except upon the direction or with the permission of a police constable use:
• The access from Old Road and public footpath Ashton No. 36 from Point A as shown on the Order Map at grid reference 357588 399331, in a generally southerly direction, to Point B as shown on the Order Map at grid reference 357635 399158 for a distance of approximately 186 metres.
• Unnamed path from Point B as shown on the Order Map at grid reference 357635 399158, in a generally westerly direction then southerly, to Point C as shown on the Order Map at grid reference 357492 399051 for a distance of approximately 227 metres.
An alternative route is available via the road network and public footpath; Old Road, Bryn Street, Council Avenue, Liverpool Road and Townfields, as shown on the Order Map.
These footpaths will be closed for a period of four months commencing on 20th July 2026 to carryout surface improvement works.
Wigan Borough Public Bridleway (Standish No.22 (Part)) (Temporary Stopping Up) Order 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Assistant Director Infrastructure and Regulatory Services of the Wigan Borough Council in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and delegated to her by the said Council proposes to make the Wigan Borough Public Bridleway (Standish No.22 (Part)) (Temporary Stopping Up) Order 2026.
The effect of the Order means that no person shall, except upon the direction or with the permission of a police constable use: Standish No. 22 from Point A at its junction with Wigan Road as shown on the
Order Map at grid reference 357275 409075, to Point B at its junction with Water Drive as shown on the Order Map at grid reference 357610 409180, for a distance of approximately 440 metres in a generally easterly direction. And from Point C at its junction with Water Drive as shown on the Order Map at grid reference 357712 409160 over the railway to Point D at its junction with Chorley Road as shown on the Order Map at grid reference 357882 409134 for a distance of approximately 172 metres in an easterly direction.
Please note that there will be no alternative route.
This public bridleway will be closed for a period of six weeks commencing on 20th July 2026 whilst surface improvements works are carried out.
Wigan Borough Public Bridleway (Wigan No. 4 (Part)) (Temporary Diversion) Order 2026
Notice of Making
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Assistant Director Infrastructure and Regulatory Services of Wigan Borough Council in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and delegated to her by the said Council has made the Wigan Borough (Public Bridleway (Wigan No.4 (Part)) (Temporary Diversion) Order 2026 which will come into operation on 3rd July 2026.
The effect of the Order means that no person shall, except upon the direction or with the permission of a police constable use Public Bridleway Wigan No. 4 from Point A as shown on the Order Map at grid reference 355035 406468, to Point B at its junction with Wigan Path No. 5 and where the bridleway continues southeast as shown on the Order Map at grid reference 355250 406186, for a distance of approximately 363 metres in a south easterly direction.
An alternative route for pedestrians is available from Point A to Point B as shown on the Order Map via Walthew House Lane and the public rights of way network; Wigan Paths No. 3 and 5, a distance of approximately 642 metres.
This public bridleway will be closed for a period of two weeks commencing on 3rd July 2026 to safeguard the public whilst a high voltage electricity cable connection is installed.
Morton Avenue, Wigan – Prohibition of Waiting
Notice of Making
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Wigan Borough Council, in exercise of its powers under Section 1, 2, 3 and 4 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and the Traffic Management Act 2004 and of all other enabling powers and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 of the Act 1984, has made the Wigan Borough (Decriminalisation of Parking) (Wigan Roads No. 2) (Traffic Regulation
Consolidation) Order 2004 (Amendment No.144) Order 2026 which will come into operation on 20th July 2026.
The effect of the Order will be to revoke no waiting at any time on:
• Morton Avenue, Wigan (both sides) from its junction with Poolstock Lane to a point 15 metres northwest of its junction with Poolstock Lane
The effect of the Order will be to introduce no waiting at any time on:
• Morton Avenue, Wigan (both sides) from its junction with Poolstock to a point 15 metres northwest of its junction with Poolstock A copy of the Order and of the relevant map may be requested by emailing s.eccles-churton@ wigan.gov.uk
Any person who desires to question the validity of the Order or any provision contained therein on the ground:
a) that it is not within the powers of Section 1 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984; or the Traffic Management Act 2004 , or
b) that any requirement of the said Section 1, or of Part III of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or of any regulations made under the said Part III of Schedule 9 or of any requirement of the 2004 Act, has not been complied with, may within six weeks of 2nd July 2026 make application for the purpose to the High Court.
