(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026
OLD LANE AND OLD LANE GATE, REEDNESS
East Riding of Yorkshire Council has made an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any person from causing any vehicle to proceed/from proceeding along (phase 1) part of Old Lane, Reedness between its junctions with Main Street and A161 Kings Causeway commencing 27 July 2026 until 21 September 2026 and (phase 2) part of Old Lane and Old Lane Gate, Reedness between A161 Kings Causeway and Crossmoor Bank, Reedness commencing 31 July 2026 until 21 September 2026. The reason for the closures are to enable the proposed Old Lane and Old Lane Gate, Reedness mains replacement scheme and to directionally drill approximately 900 metres whilst completing pressure tests and chlorination and water shut offs for service connection works, to be carried out and completed in a manner consistent with ensuring the safety of the public. It is anticipated that the works will be completed within 57 days.
The alternative route for traffic affected by the Order is via:
• Phase 1 East - Main Street, Church Lane and A161 Kings Causeway.
• Phase 2 West - A161 Kings Causeway, Reading Gate and Crossmorr Bank, Swinefleet CP, Reedness CP, Snaith, Airmyn, Rawcliffe and Marshland Ward.
The roads will be closed to all through traffic but access will be maintained for residents, emergency vehicles and pedestrians. The Order will commence 27 July 2026 and continue in force for a period not exceeding eighteen months or until the works which it is proposed to carry out have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
