What is happening?

THE METROPOLITAN BOROUGH COUNCIL OF STOCKPORT (STOCKPORT ROAD EAST, STOCKPORT) (PROHIBITION OF WAITING) (RESTRICTION OF LOADING) & (REVOCATION) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Metropolitan Borough Council of Stockport has on 30 June 2026 made an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the Road Traffic Act 1991 and the Traffic Management Act 2004 which will come into operation on 3 August 2026. The effect of the Order will be to introduce No Waiting at any Time/No Loading Monday to Saturday 8am to 9.30am & 4.30pm - 6pm at Stockport Road East (A560), North side, from its intersection with the eastern kerbline of John Street in a north easterly direction to a point 110 metres north east from its intersection with the eastern kerbline of Church Street. Stockport Road East (A560), South side, from its intersection with the projected north western kerbline of Redhouse Lane in a westerly direction for a distance of 63 metres. Stockport Road East (A560), South east side, from its intersection with the projected eastern kerbline of George Lane in a north easterly direction for a distance of 78 metres. No Waiting At Any Time at Redhouse Lane, North west side, from its intersection with the projected southern kerbline of Stockport Road East (A560) in a south westerly direction for a distance of 41 metres. Redhouse Lane, South east side, from its intersection with the projected western kerbline of George Lane in a south westerly direction for a distance of 63 metres. George Lane, West side, from its intersection with the projected south eastern kerbline of Redhouse Lane in a south easterly direction for a distance of 70 metres. George Lane, East side, from its intersection with the projected south eastern kerbline of Stockport Road East (A560) in a south easterly direction to its intersection with the northern kerbline of Oldham Drive. Revoke No Waiting Monday to Saturday 8am to 7pm/No Loading Monday to Saturday 8am to 9.30am & 4.30pm to 6pm: Stockport Road East (A560), North side, from its intersection with the eastern kerbline of John Street in a north easterly to a point 110 metres north east from its intersection with the eastern kerbline of Church Street, Stockport Road East (A560), South side, from its intersection with the projected north western kerbline of Redhouse Lane in a westerly direction for a distance of 53 metres, Stockport Road East (A560), South east side, from its intersection with the projected eastern kerbline of George Lane in a north easterly direction for a distance of 78 metres. Revoke No Waiting At Any Time: Redhouse Lane, North west side, from its intersection with the projected southern kerbline of Stockport Road East (A560) in a south westerly direction for a distance of 46 metres, Redhouse Lane, South east side, from its intersection with the projected western kerbline of George Lane in a south westerly direction for a distance of 66 metres, George Lane, West side, from its intersection with the projected south eastern kerbline of Redhouse Lane in a south easterly direction for a distance of 52 metres, George Lane, East side, from its intersection with the projected south eastern kerbline of Stockport Road east (A560) in a south easterly direction to its intersection with the northern kerbline of Oldham Drive.

A copy of the Order and map may be obtained from Stockport Legal Services, Town Hall Stockport. Any person wishing to question the validity of the Order or any of its provisions on the ground that it is not within the powers of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 or the Road Traffic Act 1991, or that a requirement of the Act or of any relevant regulations made thereunder has not been complied with may, within 6 weeks from the date on which the Order was made, make application for the purpose to the High Court.
