(EASTBOUND EXIT SLIP ROAD)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited (Company No. 09346363) intends to make an Order on the A56 Trunk Road, in the Borough of Rossendale, in the County of Lancashire, to enable highway improvement works; to be carried out in safety.
The Order will ban all traffic from the southbound exit slip road of the A56 Trunk Road, from the first point at which the exit slip road leaves the southbound carriageway, to the first point at which the exit slip road meets the A680 Haslingden Tesco Roundabout.
The prohibition is expected to be in place during a continuous period, subject to traffic signs, starting at 20:00 on Sunday 26 July 2026 and ending at 05:00 on Monday 31 August 2026.
However, works may start and continue during subsequent continuous periods until completed.
Diversion routes via alternative junctions of the A56 Trunk Road will be well signed.
The prohibition will not apply to emergency services, works, or traffic officer vehicles, and will only apply during such times and to such extent as shall be indicated by traffic signs. The Order comes into force on 25 July 2026 and has a maximum duration of eighteen months. For further information contact sam.smith@ nationalhighways.co.uk.
