Cumberland - Temporary Closure of Multiple Footpaths & Bridleways for Electricity Works

CUMBERLAND COUNCIL (VARIOUS FOOTPATHS AND BRIDLEWAYS IN THE PARISHES OF DRIGG AND CARLETON, GOSFORTH, PONSONBY AND SEASCALE) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable Aureos on behalf of Electricity North West, to carry out works for the re-cabling of overhead electricity pylons (“the Works”), Cumberland Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to:

1. Prohibit any pedestrian from proceeding along the lengths of Footpath specified in Schedule 1 attached; and

2. Prohibit any pedestrian, horse, horse rider or cyclist from proceeding along the lengths of Bridleway specified in Schedule 2 attached.

There are no alternative routes available during the Works.

The Order will come into operation on 1 August 2026 and may continue in force for a period of up to six months from that date. It is anticipated that the Works will be phased, with each phase taking approx. 6 weeks, so not all the footpath and bridleways will be closed at the same time and only when the relevant traffic signs are displayed.
