ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 – SECTION 14(1)

B1331 VULCAN PLACE BEDLINGTON AND U6546 CHURCH LANE BEDLINGTON
(TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Northumberland County Council intends to make an Order to prohibit the use by vehicular traffic on the following sections of road in the County of Northumberland:

• The B1331 Vulcan Place from its junction with Front Street West for a distance of 164 metres in a north- easterly direction (“Road One”); and

• The U6546 Church Lane from its junction with Front Street West for a distance of 112 metres in a southerly direction (“Road Two”).

The Order is to be effective from the 20th July 2026 until the 31st October 2026.

It is expected that Road One will only be closed from the 20th July 2026 until the 27th July 2026 but will be closed all times during this period; however, the order will remain in place until the 31st October 2026.

In respect of Road One, an alternative route will be available via Front Street West, Choppington Lane, Schalksmuhle Road, Vulcan Place and vice versa and should the need arise changes may be made to the alternative routes, where possible these changes will be signposted accordingly. It is expected that Road Two will only be closed from the 28th July until the 24th August 2026 but will be closed at all times during this period; however, the order will remain in place until the 31st October 2026. In respect of Road Two, an alternative route will be signposted accordingly.

The closure has been requested by Alconex to install cables. In order to minimise future disruption, other contractors may be undertaking works throughout the duration of this Order.
