What is happening?

CUMBERLAND COUNCIL (VARIOUS ROADS, DURDAR, UNTHANK AND THE C1017 BUCKABANK) (CARLISLE HALF MARATHON AND 10K RUN) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to facilitate the holding of the Carlisle Half Marathon and 10k Running Event (“the Event”) in the Carlisle area, Cumberland Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the following sections of road:

1. C1036 Durdar Road, Carlisle from its junction with the entrance to Carlisle Racecourse, extending in a southerly direction for approx. 5.8 km; and

2. U1156 Durdar, from its junction with Durdar Road to its junction with the U1155; and

3. U1155 Durdar, from its junction with the U1154, extending in an overall northerly direction to its junction with the C1014; and

4. C1014 Durdar, from its junction with the A689, extending in a south westerly direction to its junction with the C1017; and

5. C1017 Buckabank, from its junction with the C1014 to its junction with Durdar Road; and

6. U1153 Unthank, from its junction with Durdar Road, to its junction with the U1152; and

7. U1152 Unthank, from its junction with the U1153 to its junction with the U1154; and

8. U1154 Unthank, from its junction with the U1152, to its junction with the U1155.

NB. The restrictions will be in place and operated as rolling road closures which will move along as the race progresses, commencing at 0900 hours on Sunday 19 July 2026.

A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times and suitable alternative routes for vehicles will be signed and available as the race progresses.

The Order will come into operation on 19 July 2026 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of three days from that date. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required for 1 day between 0800 and 1200 (midday) hours, and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
