What is happening?

WESTMORLAND AND FURNESS COUNCIL (BUCKHORN LANE KIRKBY-IN-FURNESS) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF ALL TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that due to the likelihood of danger to the public, in particular to pedestrians and dismounted cyclists during the construction works for the new junction associated with the A595 Grizebeck scheme. Westmorland and Furness Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit all traffic (including vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists) from proceeding along the affected section of Buckhorn Lane, Kirkby-in Furness from its junction with Grizebeck Brow (A5092), extending in a south-westerly direction to its junction with the A595.

A suitable alternative route for vehicles will be available via the A595 and Grizebeck Brow (A5092) and a suitable alternative route for pedestrians will be made via Bridleway No. 539044.

This follows two emergency notices dated 29 May 2026 and 19 June 2026

The Order will come into operation on 10 July 2026 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
