What is happening?

CUMBERLAND COUNCIL (U2034 NEWTOWN, C2013 TARNS, C2017 AND B5301 PELUTHO) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable carriageway resurfacing works to be carried out (“the Works”), Cumberland Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the lengths of road specified in the attached Schedule.

Suitable diversion routes will be indicated on site by the display of relevant traffic signs and when the temporary closures are in force. A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.

The Order will come into operation on 22 July 2026 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required for as stated in the schedule, and only as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed.

SCHEDULE

EXTENT OF RESTRICTIONS AND ALTERNATIVE ROUTES

1. U2034 Newtown – From 22 July 2026 for approx. 3 weeks (Ref:TTR0C/I8912)

From its junction with C2013, extending in a north westerly direction for approx. 2.5km

Alternative Route: via the C2013, U2035 and U2033.

2. C2013 Tarns – From 10 August 2026 for approx. 5 days (Ref:TTR0C/I8786)

From its junction with B5301, extending in a northeasterly direction for approx. 280m

Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of the C2013, C2014, C2017 and B5301.

3. C2017 Pelutho – From 17 August 2026 for approx. 5 days (Ref:TTR0C/I8787)

From its junction with Coldmire Road, extending in an overall easterly direction for approx. 320m.

Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of the C2017, C2014, C2013 and B5301.

4. B5301 Pelutho – From 24 August 2026 for approx. 4 weeks (Ref:TTR0C/I8788)

From its junction with C2017 at Pelutho, extending in an overall northerly direction for approx. 2.4km.

Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of B5301, A596 Aspatria to Maryport and B5300 Maryport to Silloth.
