Barrow-in-Furness - Temporary Road Closure Due To 10k Event

WESTMORLAND AND FURNESS COUNCIL (BIGGAR BANK ROAD AND THORNY NOOK LANE, WALNEY, BARROW IN FURNESS) (RUN LIKE THE WIND 10K EVENT) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to facilitate the holding of the Run Like the Wind 10K Event (“the Event”) in Barrow in Furness, Westmorland and Furness Council has made an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along that section of;

i. Biggar Bank Road, Walney, from its junction with Sandy Gap Lane, extending in a south easterly direction for its entire length.

ii. Thorny Nook Lane, from its junction with Biggar Bank Road extending in a south easterly direction for its entire length.

A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times. A suitable alternative route for vehicles will be signed and available via Carr Lane, A590, Black Butts Lane and Sandy Gap Lane.

The Order will come into operation on Sunday 05 July 2026 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of three days from that date. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required for 1 day and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
