NOTICE OF PROPOSAL TO INTRODUCE SCHOOL STREET RESTRICTIONS
THE GREENWICH (PROHIBITION OF MOTOR VEHICLES) (SCHOOL STREETS) (NO. 1) TRAFFIC ORDER 2026

1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the Royal Borough of Greenwich (hereinafter referred to as “the Council”) propose to make the above-mentioned Order under Section 6 and 124 of, and Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) and all other enabling powers and after consultation with the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis.
2. The general effect of the Order would be to prohibit any motorised vehicle entering certain streets or lengths of streets near the schools listed below during Monday - Friday 8 - 9.30am and 3 - 4pm, during term time:
(a) Bannockburn Primary School SE18,
(i) Bannockburn Road, from its junction with Plumstead High Street to its junction with Benares Road
(ii) Ceres Road, from its junction with Bannockburn Road to its junction with Kashgar Road;
(b) Bannockburn Primary School & Nursery SE2,
(i) Benares Road, from its junction with St Nicholas Road to its junction with Church Manor Way;
(ii) Camrose Street, from its junction with Manton Road to its junction with Myrtledene Road;
(iii) Church Manor Way, from its junction with Plumstead High Street to its junction with Blithdale Road;
(iv) Manton Road, from its junction with Church Manor Way to its junction with Myra Street;
(c) Charlton Manor Primary School,
(i) Indus Road, from its junction with Charlton Dene to its junction with Hornfair Road;
(ii) Nigeria Road, from its junction with Indus Road to its junction with Hornfair Road;
(d) Christ Church C of E Primary School and St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School,
(i) Commerell Street, for the entire length;
(e) De Lucy Primary School,
(i) Cookhill Road, for its entire length;
(f) Deansfield Primary School,
(i) Glenesk Road, from its junction with Dairsie Road to its junction with Rochester Way;
(g) Eglinton Primary School and Notre Dame Catholic Primary School,
(i) Eglinton Road, for its entire length;
(ii) Whitworth Road, for its entire length;
(iii) Paget Terrace, for its entire length;
(iv) Reeves Road, for its entire length;
(v) Ripton Road, for its entire length;
(vi) Westdale Road, for its entire length;
(vii) Paget Rise, from the junction with Herbert Road to the junction with Eglinton Road;
(h) Gordon Primary School,
(i) Elibank Road, for its entire length;
(ii) Earshall Road, for its entire length;
(iii) Craigton Road, for its entire length;
(iv) Grangehill Road, from its junction with Greenvale Road to its junction with Dumbereck Road;
(i) Haimo Primary School,
(i) Haimo Road, from its junction with Froissart Road to the north-western boundary of No. 1 Haimo Road;
(j) Henwick Primary School and St Thomas More Catholic School,
(i) Henwick Road, for its entire length;
(ii) Winchcomb Gardens, for its entire length;
(iii) Appleton Road, from its junction with Rochester Way to its junction with Wendover Road;
(iv) Shortway, for its entire length;
(k) Herongate Primary School,
(i) Burrage Grove, for its entire length;
(l) Kidbrooke Park Primary School,
(i) Wishart Road, for its entire length;
(ii) Kellaway Road, for its entire length;
(iii) Holburne Road, from its junction with Dursley Road to its junction with Coreli Road;
(m) Montbelle Primary School,
(i) Crouch Croft, from its junction with Colemans Heath to its junction with Beanshaw;
(ii) Beanshaw, from its junction with Green Lane to its junction with The Course;
(iii) Milverton Way, for its entire length;
(iv) Adderley Gardens, for its entire length;
(v) Lambarde Avenue, for its entire length;

(i) Invicta Road, for its entire length;

(i) Trevithick Street, for its entire length;
(p) Sherington Primary School and Our Lady of Grace Catholic Primary School,
(i) Highcombe, from its junction with Wyndcliff Road to its junction with Bramhope Lane;
(ii) Wyndcliff Road, from its junction with Charlton Road to its junction with Eversley Road;
(iii) Lime Kiln Drive, for its entire length;
(iv) Sherington Road, for its entire length;
(v) Bramshot Avenue, from its junction with Wyndcliff Road to its junction with Hopedale Road;
(q) St Margaret’s Primary School,
(i) St Margaret’s Grove, for its entire length;
(ii) Blendon Terrace, for its entire length;
(iii) Vicarage Road, from its junction with Vicarage Park to its junction with Blendon Terrace;
(r) St Mary Magdalene C of E Primary School and Mulgrave Primary School,
(i) Rectory Place, for its entire length;
(ii) Charles Grinling Walk, for its entire length;
(iii) Mulgrave Road, from its junction with Rectory Place to its junction with Willow Lane;
(iv) Escreet Grove, for its entire length;
(v) Kingsman Street, from its junction with Gorman Road to the north-eastern end;
(s) Windrush Primary School,
(i) Austen Close, for its entire length;
(t) Wyborne Primary School,
(i) Castleford Avenue, for its entire length;
(ii) Ivor Grove, for its entire length;
3. The measures on all the streets and lengths of streets listed above will be enforced by the installation of ANPR cameras as well as traffic signs. Access will be permitted for permit holders, blue badge holders, emergency vehicles, and any other vehicle exempted under the terms of the Traffic Order.
4. The restrictions would only apply at such times and to such extent as shall be indicated by the placing or covering of the appropriate traffic signs.
5. Full details of the proposals, together with a statement of the Council’s reasons for proposing to make the Order, can be requested by emailing Parking-Design@royalgreenwich.gov.uk or at the offices of the Royal Borough of Greenwich, The Woolwich Centre, 35 Wellington Street, London SE18 6HQ, during normal office hours.
6. Any person wishing to object to the proposed Order should send a statement in writing of their objection and the grounds on which it is made, by email to Parking-Design@royalgreenwich.gov.uk quoting reference T8(26) School Streets, by 19th August 2026 (being not less than
21 days from the date of this Notice).
7. Persons objecting to the Order should be aware that in view of the Local Government (Access to Information) Act 1985, this Council would be legally obliged to make any comments received in response to this Notice, open to public inspection.
