Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984

The A316 GLA Road (Chertsey Road, London Boroughs of Hounslow and Richmond Upon Thames) (Temporary 30 Mph Speed Limit) Order 2026

  1. Transport for London hereby gives notice that it intends to make the above named Traffic Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 for the purpose specified in paragraph 2. The effect of the Order is summarised in paragraph 3.
  2. The purpose of the Order is to enable drainage replacement works to take place on Chertsey Road.
  3. The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any vehicle from exceeding a speed of 30 MPH on:

    (1) the south-westbound carriageway of the A316 Chertsey Road between its junction with Hospital Bridge Roundabout and a point 10 metres north-east of the extended northern building line of Butts House, Butts Crescent

    (2) The north-eastbound carriageway of the A316 Chertsey Road between its junction with Hospital Bridge Roundabout and a point 20 metres north-east if the extended eastern property boundary of St Augustine of Canterbury Church, Hospital Bridge Road

    (3) both carriageways of Hospital Bridge Road, including Hospital Bridge roundabout between a point 25.5 metres south of the northern face of triangular traffic island at the junction of Hospital Bridge Road with Hospital Bridge Roundabout and a point opposite the extended common boundary of Nos. 1 and 2 Crane Park Road.

    The Order will be effective from 7:00 AM on 20th July 2026 until 5:00 AM on 8th December 2026 or when the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. The prohibitions will apply only during such times and to such extent as shall from time to time be indicated by traffic signs.

  4. The prohibitions will not apply in respect of:

    (1) anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or a person authorised by Transport for London.
