What is happening?
THE NOTTINGHAMSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
(VARIOUS ROADS, EAST BRIDGFORD AND NEWTON) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) ORDER 2026 (R26-139)
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Nottinghamshire County Council intends not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order, under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, in respect of roads at East Bridgford and Newton in the Borough of Rushcliffe
The effects of the Order will be:
1. Vehicles are prohibited from proceeding in the following length of road
a. Kirk Hill, East Bridgford - From its junction with Bypass Road, Newton to its junction with Main Street
b. East Bridgford Road, Newton - From its junction with Bypass Road to its junction with Main Street
c. A6097 Bypass Road, Newton - From its junction with Manor Lane, Shelford to its junction with Newton Lane
2. No vehicle shall proceed at a speed exceeding 40 miles per hour in the following length of road at Newton in the Borough of Rushcliffe:-
a. A6097 Bypass Road, Newton - From its junction with Manor Lane, Shelford to its junction with Newton Lane
3. Vehicles are prohibited from waiting, loading and unloading in the following length of road at East Bridgford in the Borough of Rushcliffe:-
a. Cross Lane, East Bridgford (Both Sides)(At any time) - For its entire length
b. Holloway Close, East Bridgford (Both sides)Aat any time) - for its entire length
4. All existing permanent restrictions will be temporarily suspended as required.
5. The restrictions specified above shall only be in effect when the signs are in place.
IT IS INTENDED that the prohibitions respecting the above road or roads will apply as follows:
From 07:00 hours on Monday 20th July 2026
Until 18:00 hours on Tuesday 20th July 2027 inclusive.
AND NOTICE IS HEREBY FURTHER GIVEN that during the period of restriction the alternative route available will be:
a. Main Street, East Bridgford - Butt Lane - Fosse Way, Car Colston - Margidunum Roundabout, Bingham - A6097 and Vice versa
b. Main Street, Newton - Newton Lane - A6097 and Vice Versa
c. A46 - A617 - A614 - A6097 and Vice Versa
The Order will come into force on Monday 20th July 2026 and any prohibition in it shall apply on that day and any subsequent day when necessary to enable works to be carried out. The Order shall continue in force until the works are completed (within a maximum period of 18 months).
