What is happening?
WEST BERKSHIRE DISTRICT COUNCIL
UNDER SECTION 14/1 OF THE ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984
WEST BERKSHIRE DISTRICT COUNCIL (THE COUNCIL) INTENDS TO MAKE ORDERS AS FOLLOWING
(WINDMILL ROAD, MORTIMER COMMON) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) ORDER 2026
The Council has made an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding in any direction over Windmill Road in Mortimer Common between its junction with Victoria Road and its junction with Hammonds Heath.
The alternative route for all vehicles affected by the Order is via Victoria Road, Hammonds Heath and vice versa.
The purpose of this Order is to enable works to take place on or near the highway, namely for Thames Water to install new mains and service connections.
The proposed Order will come into effect on 6th July 2026. It is envisaged that the closure will be in place between 6th and 10th July 2026.
(ALDWORTH ROAD, COMPTON) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) ORDER 2026
The Council has made an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding in any direction over Aldworth Road in Compton between its junction with Coombe Road and the entrance to Applepie Farm.
The alternative route for all vehicles affected by the Order is via Aldworth Road, B4009 Way Lane, B4009 Wyld Court Hill, B4009 Forge Hill, B4009 Church Street, Water Street, Unnamed Road from Ilsley Road to Newbury Hill, Newbury Road, Unnamed Road from Ilsley Road to Newbury Hill, Ilsley Road, High Street, School Road, Aldworth Road and vice versa.
The purpose of this Order is to enable works to take place on or near the highway, namely for Openreach to carry out pole testing works.
The proposed Order will come into effect on 14th July 2026. It is envisaged that the closure will be in place between 09:30 and 15:30 on 14th July 2026.
(BRADING WAY, PURLEY ON THAMES) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) ORDER 2026
The Council has made an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding in any direction over Brading Way in Purley on Thames between its junction with Colyton Way and its junction with Chestnut Grove.
The alternative route for all vehicles affected by the Order is via Colyton Way, Wintringham Way, Chestnut Grove and vice versa.
The purpose of this Order is to enable works to take place on or near the highway, namely for Thames Water to carry out service pipe repair works.
The proposed Order will come into effect on 8th July 2026. It is envisaged that the closure will be in place between 8th and 10th July 2026.
(BLOSSOM LANE, THEALE) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) ORDER 2026
The Council has made an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding in any direction over Blossom Lane in Theale between its junction with Crown Lane and its junction with Chestnut Close.
There is no alternative route for vehicles affected by the Order, therefore resident and blue light access will be maintained.
The purpose of this Order is to enable works to take place on or near the highway, namely for Thames Water to carry out service pipe repairs.
The proposed Order will come into effect on 8th July 2026. It is envisaged that the closure will be in place between 8th and 10th July 2026.
Unless stated otherwise the above orders shall remain in force for a period of eighteen months, or until the works are complete, whichever is the soonest, they will not take effect until approved traffic signs have been erected.
