HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL

(Temporary Closing Of Gurney Court Road, St Albans) Order 2026
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Gurney Court Road, St Albans from its junction with Marshalswick Lane south eastwards to its junction with Marshals Drive, a distance of approximately 511m ("the Road").
An alternative route will be via: Marshalswick Lane and Marshals Drive.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.
The Order will come into effect from 21 July 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 1 day to complete but will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(Temporary Traffic Management Measures On Various Roads In Harpenden During The ‘Classics On The Common’) Order 2026
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect on the following lengths of roads ("the Roads") will be:-
1. To prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of Roads, except for access:-
a) that length of Leyton Road, Harpenden from its junction with the Bull Road/A1081 St Albans Road roundabout westwards for a distance of approximately 22m.
An alternative route will be via: A1081 St Albans Road, Station Road, Leyton Road, West Common and A1081 St Albans Road.

b) that length of A1081 St Albans Road, Harpenden from its junction with the Bull Road/Leyton Road roundabout southwards for a distance of approximately 250m.
An alternative route will be via: A1081 St Albans Road, Station Road, Leyton Road, West Common and A1081 St Albans Road.

c) that length of Southdown Road, Harpenden from its junction with Arden Grove north westwards and clockwise for its entire length.
There is no alternative route available, but access will be maintained wherever possible throughout the duration of the event.

2. To prohibit all vehicular traffic from proceeding along that length of Leyton Road/West Common, Harpenden from a point 22m west of its junction with the Bull Road/A1081 St Albans Road roundabout south eastwards and south westwards for a distance of approximately 390m other than in a southerly direction only, when signs are in place.
An alternative route will be via: West Common, A1081 St Albans Road, Station Road and Leyton Road.

The purpose of the Order is to ensure public safety and prevent accidents for the duration of the ‘Classics on the Common’.
The Order will come into effect from 21 July 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The event is scheduled for 1 day and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

(Temporary Closing Of Crossway, Harpenden) Order No.2 2026
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Crossway, Harpenden from a point in line with the north western boundary of No.47 Crossway south eastwards for a distance of approximately 29m ("the Road").
An alternative route will be via: Crossway, Manland Way, Sauncey Avenue, West Way and Crossway.

The Order is needed because water main repair works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.
The Order will come into effect from 20 July 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 3 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(Temporary Closing Of Various Roads In St Albans) Order No.3 2026
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads ("the Roads"), except for access:-
1. that length of Manor Road, St Albans from its junction with Hillside Road south eastwards to its junction with Lemsford Road, a distance of approximately 187m.
An alternative route will be via: Hillside Road, Avenue Road and Lemsford Road or via St Peters Road, A1057 Hatfield Road and Lemsford Road.

2. that length of St Peters Road, St Albans from its junction with A1057 Hatfield Road north eastwards to its junction with Hall Place Gardens, a distance of approximately 166m.
An alternative route will be via: A1057 Hatfield Road, A1081 St Peters Street and Hall Place Gardens.

3. that length of Waverley Road, St Albans from its junction with Batchwood Drive south eastwards to its junction with Langley Crescent, a distance of approximately 234m.
An alternative route will be via: Batchwood Drive, Becketts Avenue and Langley Crescent.

4. that length of Everlasting Lane, St Albans from its junction with Batchwood Drive south eastwards and south westwards to its junction with Waverley Road, a distance of approximately 206m.
An alternative route will be via: Batchwood Drive, Becketts Avenue, Langley Crescent and Waverley Road or via Batchwood Drive and Waverley Road.

5. that length of Ladies Grove, St Albans from its junction with Waverley Road south westwards to its junction with Links View, a distance of approximately 373m.
An alternative route will be via: Waverley Road, Batchwood Drive and Links View.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.
The Order will come into effect from 20 July 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 3 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

(Temporary Closing Of The Layby Situated On The North East Side Of A414 North Orbital Road, St Albans) Order 2026
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the layby situated on the north east side of A414 North Orbital Road, St Albans from a point 175m south east of its junction with A414 Watling Street roundabout south eastwards for a distance of approximately 68m ("the Layby").
There is no alternative route available, but access will be maintained wherever possible throughout the duration of the works.

The Order is needed because UKPN network repair works are proposed to be executed on or near the Layby.
The Order will come into effect from 21 July 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 1 day to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Layby.

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect on the following lengths of roads ("the Roads") will be:-
1. To prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of A5183 (High Street/Verulam Road), St Albans from its junction with A1081 Chequer Street north westwards to its junction with College Street, a distance of approximately 399m, except for access.
An alternative route will be via: A1081 (Chequer Street/St Peters Street), A4147 (Catherine Street/Folly Lane) and A5183 (Folly Lane/Verulam Road).

2. To prohibit all vehicular traffic from making a left turn manoeuvre from George Street into A5183 Verulam Road, St Albans, when signs are in place.
An alternative route will be via: A5183 (Verulam Road/High Street), A1081 (Chequer Street/St Peters Street), A4147 (Catherine Street/Folly Lane) and A5183 (Folly Lane/Verulam Road).

3. To prohibit all vehicular traffic from making a left turn manoeuvre from Lower Dagnall Street into A5183 Verulam Road, St Albans, when signs are in place.
An alternative route will be via: A5183 (Verulam Road/High Street), A1081 (Chequer Street/St Peters Street), A4147 (Catherine Street/Folly Lane) and A5183 (Folly Lane/Verulam Road).

4. To prohibit all vehicular traffic from making a right turn manoeuvre from Market Place into A5183 High Street, St Albans, when signs are in place.
An alternative route will be via: A5183 High Street, A1081 (Chequer Street/St Peters Street), A4147 (Catherine Street/Folly Lane) and A5183 (Folly Lane/Verulam Road).

5. To prohibit all vehicular traffic from making a right turn manoeuvre from Upper Dagnall Street into A5183 Verulam Road, St Albans when signs are in place.
An alternative route will be via: A5183 (Verulam Road/High Street), A1081 (Chequer Street/St Peters Street), A4147 (Catherine Street/Folly Lane) and A5183 (Folly Lane/Verulam Road).

6. To prohibit all vehicular traffic from making a right turn manoeuvre from Britton Avenue into A5183 Verulam Road, St Albans when signs are in place.
An alternative route will be via: A5183 (Verulam Road/High Street), A1081 (Chequer Street/St Peters Street), A4147 (Catherine Street/Folly Lane) and A5183 (Folly Lane/Verulam Road).

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.
The Order will come into effect from 6 July 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 21 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

(Temporary Closing Of The Service Road Fronting Nos.81a-99 Old Watford Road, Bricket Wood) Order 2026
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the service road fronting Nos.81a-99 Old Watford Road, Bricket Wood from its junction with Broad Acre south westwards for a distance of approximately 48m ("the Road").
An alternative route will be via: Broad Acre, Old Watford Road and the service road fronting Nos.81a-99 Old Watford Road.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.
The Order will come into effect from 9 July 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 2 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

The Hertfordshire (Various Roads, County Of Hertfordshire) (Revocations) Order 2026
NOTICE is given that the Hertfordshire County Council proposes under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 to revoke various existing Orders no longer relevant in the County of Hertfordshire as specified in the Schedule to this Notice.

Documents giving more detailed particulars of the proposals may be viewed from 3 July 2026, during office hours, at: Main Reception, Farnham House, Stevenage, or on-line at: www.hertfordshire.gov.uk/trafficorders, by selecting St Albans and Hertsmere and looking at Ref: - J00126.

Objections or other representations to the proposals should be made in writing to: tro.team@hertfordshire.gov.uk, or TRO Services Team, Postal Point (CH0242), Farnham House, Six Hills Way, Stevenage, SG1 2ST, by 24 July 2026 stating the grounds on which they are made.

- The Trunk Road (London – North Orbital Road) (A405) Prohibition of Traffic) Order 1979
- The Trunk Roads (40 mph Speed Limit) (No 6) Order 1978
- The Trunk Road (North Orbital Road, St Albans) (Prohibition of Right-Hand Turn) Order 1971
- The London Traffic (Built Up Areas) (No 8) Order 1958
- The Hertfordshire (A5183 Watling Street, Elstree and Aldenham) (50 mph Speed Limit) Order 2004
- The Hertfordshire (Blackhorse Lane, Redbourn) (Prohibition of Right Hand Turn from A5183 Dunstable Road Order 1982
