What is happening?
THE BOROUGH COUNCIL OF GATESHEAD
(TRAFFORD, LOW FELL - FOOTPATH CLOSURE)
TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2026
Notice is hereby given that the Borough Council of Gateshead proposes to make an Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit pedestrians from proceeding along Trafford Nos 38 - 54 from its junction with Ashford Nos 1 - 79, Trafford Nos 22 - 70 and Woodford Nos 1 - 38 rear access in an easterly direction for 15 metres.
The Order is required as minimum widths cannot be maintained due to excavating.
The Order will come into force on 20 July 2026. The maximum duration of the Order will be 6 months; however, the works are expected to be completed by 23 July 2026.
During the works all pedestrians (except operatives associated with the works and emergency service operatives on duty) will be prohibited from proceeding along the above footpath until the works are completed or at such times and to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the display of traffic signs.
During the works there will be a signed diversion in place.
