What is happening?
WESTMORLAND AND FURNESS COUNCIL (B6254, KIRKBY LONSDALE AND CARTER ROAD, GRANGE-OVER-SANDS) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2026)
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable utility works to be carried out (“the Works”), Westmorland and Furness Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit all traffic (i.e. vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists), from proceeding along that section of the; B6254, Kirkby Lonsdale from its junction with the C5081, extending in a south easterly direction for approx. 705 metres.
Northbound Traffic Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of the B6254, Fairbank, Queens Square, Beck Head, Mark Street, Main Street, A65 and Goodmickle Lane (C5081).
Southbound Traffic Alternative Route: via Goodmickle Lane (C5081), A65, Main Street (B6254), New Road (B6446), Mitchelgate, Beck Head, Queens Square, Fairbank and the B6254.
Duration: From 20th July 2026 for approx. 6 weeks (Ref: TTROW/I8713)
Carter Road, Grange-over-Sands, from its junction with Cart Lane, extending in a westerly direction for approx. 50 metres.
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of Carter Road, Allithwaite Road (B5277) and Cart Lane.
Duration: From 22nd July 2026 for approx. 3 days (Ref: TTROW/I9417)

The Order will come into operation on 20th July 2026 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required as detailed above, and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
