Notice is hereby given that on the 25 April 2026 North Somerset Council made the following order in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended. The general effect of which will be to amend the North Somerset Council (Prohibition of Stopping, Waiting, Loading and Parking Places) (Consolidation) Order 2022 to include amendments to parking restrictions (yellow lines) on Walford Avenue, Weston-super-Mare. The extent of the proposals are described in the Schedule to this notice. The order will come into operation on the 2 November 2026 and copies of the order may be inspected at: https://streets.appway.com/north-somerset

Any person who desires to question the validity of, or of any provision contained in the order on the grounds that it is not within the relevant powers of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, or on the grounds that any of the relevant requirements of that Act has not been complied with in relation to the order, may within six weeks after the date on which the order was made, apply to the High Court for this purpose.

Schedule - Part 3: Prohibition and Restriction on Waiting, Stopping, Loading and Unloading - No Waiting at Any Time: Walford Avenue, Weston-super-Mare - double yellow lines on the north side of the road to be extended for a further 20.5m (approximately) from those currently in place extending in a southwest direction from Walford Avenue’s junction with the road known as Pastures Avenue.

Revocation of No Waiting at Any Time: Walford Avenue, Weston-super-Mare – removal of double yellow lines from Walford Avenue’s junction with Queensway for approximately 32m. Walford Avenue, Weston-super-Mare – double yellow lines on the south side of the road to be reduced by 57.5m (approximately) from their starting point at the junction of Walford Avenue and Queensway.

The general effect of the order was to amend the North Somerset Council Moving Traffic Prohibitions and Restrictions, North Somerset Consolidation Order 2024 to amend current Prohibition of motor vehicles on Milton Park Road and include Fairfield Close and Clarkson Avenue. The general effect of the order shall be to amend the North Somerset Council (Speed Limit Restrictions), North Somerset Consolidation Order 2024 to include 20mph restriction within the roads surrounding the Milton Park School, Weston-super-Mare. The extent of the proposals are described in the Schedule to this Notice.

Notice is hereby given that North Somerset Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, intend to make an order the effect of which:

Will be to close, temporarily, to vehicles the lengths of roads specified in the Schedule to this Notice. Exemptions are included for emergency services, works access, works vehicles and as works permit for premises which may only be accessed via the closed section of road.

This order is required because of the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon work by Openreach to have a safe working area for engineers to access telegraph poles in order to provide fibre overhead cabling. This order will become operative on the 18 September 2026 for a maximum period of eighteen months. However, the closures may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only as necessitated by the works which is anticipated to be of 6 hours in duration between 9.30am and 3.30pm. Will be to close, temporarily, to pedestrians the lengths of footpaths specified in the Schedule to this Notice. Exemptions are included for emergency services, works access and as works permit for premises which may only be accessed via the closed section of footpath.

This order was required because of the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon work by Wales & West Utilities Limited to replace gas mains and renew/transfer service pipes. This order will become operative on the 27 July 2026 for a maximum period of six months.
