What is happening?

THE COUNTY COUNCIL OF DURHAM (C11, WEST ROAD, ANNFIELD PLAIN) (60 MPH SPEED LIMIT) ORDER 2026

The Council proposes to make an Order under Sections 82, 83 and 87 and Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which is to remove the existing 30 mph speed limit and replace with a 60 mph speed limit on the C11, West Road, Annfield Plain from the existing 30 mph terminal signs on the C11 West Road in an easterly direction for 120 metres to a point 7 metres east of its junction with Loud Stables. A copy of the draft Order, plan and supporting documents may be inspected at Annfield Plain Library during normal opening hours and via the council website. Any person who wishes to object to the proposals should send their grounds of objection in writing, to Sharon Renwick, Legal Assistant at Legal and Democratic Services, PO Box 274, Stanley, County Durham or by email to highways.orders@durham.gov.uk (ref:15237445) by 23/7/2026.
