CUMBERLAND COUNCIL (U2650 CENTRAL WAY, WORKINGTON) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable carriageway resurfacing works to be carried out (“the Works”), Cumberland Council has made an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle to proceed along that section of the U2650 Central Way, Workington, from its junction with Central Square, extending in a north easterly direction for approx. 110m.
A suitable alternative route for vehicles will be available via Central Square, Oxford Street, Station Road, A597, Church Street, William Street and Griffin Street (Clocks Car Park).
A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.
N.B. To facilitate the alternative route detailed above and allow two-way traffic flow under traffic management (traffic lights), the existing one-way restriction on that section the U2650, Central Way, Workington, from its junction with the access road to/exit from the Service Yard to its junction with the entrance to Brow Top Pay and Display Car Park, will be temporarily suspended for the duration of the Works.

The Order will come into operation on 6 July 2026 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restriction will only be required for approx. 6 nights between 1900 and 0700 hours, each night, and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
