What is happening?

Highways

Kent County Council, acting in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, makes or intends to make the following Orders.

CANTERBURY AREA

Anvil Green Road, Waltham.​ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JULY 2026

To allow pole and cabling works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Anvil Green Road, Waltham from 9th July 2026 with estimated completion by 10th July 2026, between the hours of 08:00 and 17:00, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed outside Temple Cottage, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Anvil Green Road, Kake Street, Richdore Road, Anvil Green Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



Bekesbourne Lane, Littlebourne, CT3 1ST (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JULY 2026

To allow pole testing works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Bekesbourne Lane, Littlebourne from 9th July 2026 for up to one day, between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed from the junction with A257 High Street heading southwards for approximately 900m, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Bekesbourne Lane, School Lane, Chalkpit Hill, Adisham Road, Adisham Downs Road, Pond Hill, Station Road, B2046 Adisham Road, High Street, A257 Canterbury Road, Wingham Road, High Street and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



Church Lane, Seasalter, CT5 4UG (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JULY 2026

To allow frame and cover works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Church Lane, Seasalter from 24th July 2026 for up to one day, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed between April Cottage and The Limes, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Faversham Road, Joy Lane, B2205 Borstal Hill, A2990 Thanet Way and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



Cockering Road, Thanington Without, CT1 3ZP (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JULY 2026

To allow new water connection works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Cockering Road, Thanington Without from 20th July 2026, with estimated completion by 24th July 2026, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed between the junction with Godwin Close and number 26, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Strangers Lane, A28 Thanington Road, St Nicholas Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



Mayton Lane, Broad Oak.​ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JULY 2026

To allow pole and cabling works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Mayton Lane, Broad Oak from 6th July 2026 with estimated completion by 7th July 2026, between the hours of 08:00 and 17:00, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed approximately 350m north of Brookside property, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



Mystole Lane, Mystole, CT4 7BX (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JULY 2026

To allow cover and frame works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Mystole Lane, Mystole from 6th July 2026, with estimated completion by 10th July 2026, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in the vicinity of Underdown Nurseries, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative routes for any through traffic are as follows:

Diversion A - Mystole Lane, Chartham Downs Road, Shalmsford Street, A28 Canterbury Road, Mystole Lane, Pickleden Lane, Mystole Lane and vice versa.

Diversion B - Thruxted Lane, Bobbin Lodge Hill and then follow diversion A.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



Seasalter Lane, Seasalter & Dargate Road, Yorkletts.​ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JULY 2026

To allow pole testing works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Seasalter Lane, Seasalter & Dargate Road, Yorkletts from 20th July 2026 for up to one day, between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30, or until the works have been completed.

The roads will be closed from the junction with Fox’s Cross Road, heading approximately 1620m northwards towards the junction with Faversham Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Faversham Road, Joy Lane, B2205 Borstal Hill, A2990 Thanet Way Roundabout, A290 Clapham Hill, Pean Hill, Fox’s Cross Road, Fox’s Cross Hill and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



The Avenue & St Alban’s Road, Hersden.​ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JULY 2026

To allow water pipe repair works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of The Avenue & St Albans Road, Hersden from 20th July 2026, with estimated completion by 22nd July 2026, or until the works have been completed.

The roads will be closed in the vicinity of number 45 The Avenue, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via The Avenue, The Sycamores, A28 Island Road, East View and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



Westbrook Lane, Herne Bay, CT6 8DD (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JULY 2026

To allow bridge examination works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Westbrook Lane, Herne Bay from 22:00 hours on 20th July 2026, with estimated completion by 06:00 hours on 21st July 2026, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed 20m either side of the railway bridge, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



White Horse Lane, Canterbury, CT1 2JH (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JULY 2026

To allow drainage repair works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on White Horse Lane, Canterbury from 6th July 2026 with estimated completion by 11th July 2026, between the hours of 19:00 and 05:00, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in its entirety, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



Various Roads, Canterbury - Canterbury City Show 2026.​ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JULY 2026

To allow the Canterbury City Show 2026 to be held, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of various roads in Canterbury from 08:00 hours on 25th July 2026, with estimated completion by 18:00 hours on 26th July 2026, or until the works have been completed.

A290 St Dunstans Street

The road will be closed between the roundabout at the junction of Westgate Grove and A290 St Peters Place, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

A290 St Peter’s Place

The road will be closed between A290 St Dunstans Street and Tower Way, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

Pound Lane

The road will be closed at the junction with A290 St Dunstans Street, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

St Peters Street

The road will be closed at the junction with A290 St Peters Place, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any southbound traffic is via A290 St Dunstans Street, London Road, A2050 Rheims Way, St Peters Roundabout and A290 St Peters Place.

The alternative route for any northbound traffic is via A290 St Peters Place, A2050 Rheims Way, London Road and A290 St Dunstans Street.
